Fall is the season that comes after summer. In the fall, the days get shorter. It gets colder outside, too. Leaves fall off the trees.

In fall, some animals get set for the cold winter by growing thick fur. A few kinds of animals find food and hide it under the soil. The food will not spoil in the ground.

Some kinds of birds join up with other birds. Then they all fly south to where it is warmer.

Winter comes after fall. The days get very short in winter and it gets colder, too. In many places, snow falls and water freezes.
