SUMMARY OF CHANGES

This interim change is an update to AFI36-2903, AMC Supplement, paragraph 9.9 authorizing medical personnel the wear of blue slide-style name tags in lieu of pin-on name tags and metal rank insignia. Attachment 11 authorizing wear of the Army Aviation Combat Uniform (A2CU) two piece flight suit for Air Mobility Command aircrews assigned, attached or under control of Air Mobility Command aircrews and changes to Table A12.1. to fall more in compliance with AFCENT wear policy of the Army Aviation Combat Uniform (A2CU) two piece flight suit while assigned to the AOR.

1.3.1. During Travel. Personnel traveling in an official capacity on commercial air may wear any combination of the Blue uniform (Class B) or appropriate civilian attire. Airman Battle Uniform (ABUs) are authorized for wear on commercial air when TDY, deploying, redeploying or on rest and recuperation leave to and from the combat theater.

2.8. Wing Commanders or Equivalent. Installation commanders may supplement this instruction for off-base uniform wear, to include tenant units. Commanders should be mindful that while off-base, personnel are on constant display to the American people and as such will be mindful of the impression they make. Therefore, short convenience stops (i.e. dry cleaning, grocery stores, and eating at food establishments where clientele are not in business attire) are acceptable in ABUs or flight duty uniform. Extended dining, shopping, socializing, participating in entertainment, or frequenting establishments that primarily serve alcohol while in ABUs or flight duty uniforms is not authorized.

2.8.12. (Added) Installation Commanders will determine the appropriate uniform for local events. Commanders will exercise good judgment for participants and attendees that prescribe a uniform appropriate for the event or occasion. The ABU or flight duty uniform is not considered appropriate for off-base functions such as memorial services, funerals, weddings, or other events displaying respect to those being honored. For example, while participating in public events where civilian members wear business suits, Air Force members will wear the service dress uniform.
