WHY ARE THERE CHILD LABOR LAWS?

It is required for all minors who haven’t reached their eighteenth birthday.

It needs to be obtained from Georgia School attended or a County School Superintendent.

The minor needs to be enrolled in school full time.

The minor’s school attendance record needs to be in good standing for the current academic year.

Employers must have a copy of the minor’s employment certificate (work permit) and the attendance letter.

You don’t need the

attendance letter if you: Are 18 or older. Have received a high school

diploma, a GED, a special education diploma, or a certificate of high school completion.

Have terminated secondary education and is enrolled in a postsecondary school.

Employer Requirements Complete an Application for Employment

of Minors in Entertainment Ensure Application for each minor is

legible and completed in its entirety Ensure that the parent or guardian has

completed and signed the appropriate portion of the form

Submit application by FAX or mail along with a copy of the script or storyboard

Hours of Participation A one-hour break for meals A one-hour rest and recreation period, if

the minor is present for more than four hours

Any additional breaks as may be necessary to ensure the health, safety, and well being of the minor
