•Early life

• Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945 in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica

• By age 5 his family moved to Kingston in the 1950’s

• His best friend was O’Riley Livingston

• Marley and Livingston both found inspiration in music

Early Life O’Riley and Marley

spent a lot of their time writing and playing music

O’reily and Marley’s other friend Bunny, both convinced Marley to learn guitar.

A local record producer picked up Bob, O’Riley, and Bunny.

What he did in his lifetime

He introduced the world to Raggae music

He became a very powerful political leader in Jamaica

Got inducted into Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame

Legacy and Death

• The message of Marley’s songs is peace, love, and equality.

• Marley died on May 11, 1981 in Miami, Florida of lung, liver, and brain cancer at age 36.

• The cancer was caused by a toe injury that Marley refused to amputate.
