M.Ed, SLP

• Meet with your classroom teacher and discuss the current writing focus

•Select a story to support the goals and objectives or classroom standard

*Focus during the story:

predictions, story elements (using Braidy), sequencing,

answering “wh” and inferential questions, compare/contrast, etc.

•Students complete the written activity and add a drawing for their page

•Scan the book cover and bind the pages to create the class book

•At the end of the year hold a raffle (make sure you have enough books plus 1

for the students). Each student will keep a book from the class.

A Turkey For Thanksgiving

By Eve Bunting

• 10-15 min. Introduce story and read using the ELMO

• 5-10 min. Using the ELMO or LCD projector, review the elements of the story using Techno Braidy

• 5 min. Introduce the activity for the students to complete (i.e. an alternative ending to story, compare/contrast how turkey felt in the middle of the story compared to the end of the story.)

• 15-20 min. Students work on activity.

• Collect work, and compile it into a class book.
