IS RFID TECHNOLOGY RELIABLE?
• RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification
• An RFID device does not need a line of sight
• RFID tags are re-writable.
• RFID tags can carry up to 2,000 bytes of data
What is RFID? According to my Junior/Research paper…
• RFID tags can be read at much greater distances.
• RFID readers can read tags much faster than barcode scanners.
• RFID tags can also be implanted within the product itself.
RFID Benefits
RFID Barcode
• Barcodes cost about half a cent each to produce
• Barcodes are disposable and must be repurchased every time
• Ex: Store A using BARCODES would cost about $75 a month to produce barcodes for their merchandise.
• RFID tags cost on average of 5 to 10 cents a piece
• RFID tags can be re-written and re-used
• Ex: Store B using RFID would spend about $750 a month to produce enough RFID tags.
RFID V.S. Barcodes
RFID Tags consist of 3 Main parts:
RFID Reliability…Label
Antenna
Chip
RFID tags can also be printed on.
Barcodes can wear out. RFID tags do not.
RFID tags go through many quality checks.
RFID tags are designed to fit the customer's needs.For example:• Weather proof• Pressure sensitive• Long distance• Compact• Durability• Encrypted
RFID Reliability…
RFID tags may be more expensive production wise but they can save a company a lot of money in the long run

RFID has already begun to spread.
Major companies like JCPenny and Wal-Mart have already adapted to the use of RFID
technology

• YES, RFID tags are more expensive than barcodes.
• Barcodes are more affordable but less reliable
• RFID tags are more expensive but they out preform barcodes.
In the end the Company decides. Would you spend a little extra to get a little more? After all you get what
you pay for!
Affordability VS Reliability
Future of RFIDIn the Near future RFID technology will
allow us to:
• Buy without checkout lines
• Speedy inventory
• Find and replace things in seconds
• Locating victims in an accident
• Tracking hospital equipment
• Reliable Information• Transportation• Access to technology• Time management • Following directions
Obstacles
• Learned about RFID• Improved researching skills• Better time management• Meeting CEO of CGP• Better knowledge of RFID • Acquiring summer job

I learned that I work well under pressure, but I should not have to put myself under so much pressure. I need to learn how to balance my
time between all four of my classes and wrestling. As I approach college I must stop
procrastinating so much and work on my time management.
Reflection about myself
Thanks to my graduation project I learned so much more about RFID technology and I was
offered a position at CGP operating the Converting machine, and depending on my
progress they may cover training at a college level. I made a really good impression on
everyone there. I also learned the importance of time management.
The Impact of the project
