The purpose of our experiment is to determine whether the temperature of a car is affected by it’s colour. To ensure our test is fair we composed this question to base our experiment on:

“If you measure the temperature of a car’s roof, will the colour of the car affect the results?”

Our expectation was that we would find Our expectation was that we would find that black cars have the hottest that black cars have the hottest temperature and white cars will have temperature and white cars will have the coldest temperature. This is our the coldest temperature. This is our assumption because black absorbs assumption because black absorbs sunlight whilst white deflects it. sunlight whilst white deflects it.

We measured the temperature of each car’s roof, measuring We measured the temperature of each car’s roof, measuring only black, only black, whitewhite, , blueblue and and silversilver cars. For each colour we cars. For each colour we measured the temperature of the roof of 10 cars. We measured the temperature of the roof of 10 cars. We collected our data from the staff car park at Australind collected our data from the staff car park at Australind Senior High School, using a laser temperature camera. All Senior High School, using a laser temperature camera. All of our data was collected on the same day so our results of our data was collected on the same day so our results were not affected by the temperature of the day.were not affected by the temperature of the day.

From the data we collected we From the data we collected we were able to identify that cars were able to identify that cars which were black had the which were black had the hottest temperature with an hottest temperature with an average temperature of average temperature of 49.5549.55°C. The car with the °C. The car with the coldest temperature was the coldest temperature was the white cars with an average white cars with an average temperature of 31.30°C.temperature of 31.30°C.
