Real World Problem Jonny has to buy 220 notebooks for
his club he is in charge of. 4 notebooks come in one pack for 2.00
each. How much money does he have to get to have enough books for
everyone.
The Equation
Y=.50x or f(x)=.50xX=220
Y=The cost of one notebookX=The total number of notebooks
needed
Independent and dependent variables
The independent variable is X (the coast of one notebook)
The dependent variable is Y (the number of books needed)
The total cost of the notebooks DEPENDS on the number of
notebooks.

Yes, because all of the X’s (the independent variable) are
