MARS’S BASIC INFORMATION• Mars contains three layers Crust, Mantle, and the Core

• The diameter is 6,800 km, (53% of Earth’s diameter) or 4,216 mi.

• Density= 3.9g/cm cubed

• The year is almost twice as much as our year

• Mars has 2 moons

• Mars’s red color comes from the oxidation of rocks on the surface of Mars

• Mars is 228km from our only known sun

• Mars’ s rotation is equal to 24h and 37min

• Mars is the furthermost inner planet (it sits near the asteroid belt)

VOLCANOES ON MARS???• Olympus Mons ins the largest volcano in the solar system

• Tharsus Montes is one of the many volcanic regions

• Olympus Mons is almost twice as large as Mt. Everest

• Valles Marineris is a region of canyons on Mars

LIFE… ON MARS? WHAAA???!• NASA has found bacteria frozen in ice (frozen water)

• NASA currently has a rover called MSL that is currently exploring the terrain on Mars and looking for other types of life on The Red Planet

MARS IS A MOVIE STAR

• Many movies about Mars include the new movie The Martian and Disney’s My Favorite Martian

GRAVITY ON MARS• 0.375% of Earth

• Scientist have based Mars gravity on Newton’s scale of Gravity

Page 7: By: J. Trent Pettus, Calynn Trent, and Morgan Mason MARS.

WEATHER ON MARS• The temp. of Mars is -81 Degrees Fahrenheit

• Life of Mars (frozen bacteria) was frozen because of the extremely cold temperatures

• Although, it doesn’t rain on Mars because there is no atmosphere from the lack of oxygen
