Background InformationBackground Information

In the picture it’s explaining that there’s no time to waste when there’s an emergency and our ecosystem is

in danger so why are we stalling? WWF Stands for the World Wildlife Fund and their

purpose is to save the planet by conserving the world’s natural resources. They work with over 100 countries trying to conserve 15 of the world’s most ecologically important regions by protecting and restoring species and their habitats, being the voice for creatures that have no voice, and by involving action at every level

from local to global. WWF’s main goal is to build a future where human needs are met in harmony with nature.

Is the visual weight on one side of the photograph about the same as the other?

Page 5: By: Emily England. What is going on in this photograph?

The visual weight is equally balanced. Everything in the picture is really dark and in the top left corner and

the bottom right corner, the lighting is bright. It’s trying to highlight the main parts of the picture. In the top corner where you see sunlight, it’s trying to pull

your attention to the wrecked car in the background. In the bottom corner they use the white of the ambulance and yellow on the paramedics suits to draw your eye to

the paramedics “taking their time” while there’s obviously urgent need for them right down the road.

When you crop the picture, does it give it a different meaning?

When you crop the picture, does it give it a different meaning?

Page 7: By: Emily England. What is going on in this photograph?

Yes… yes it does. When you crop out the image of the

wrecked vehicle, you don’t see the need for the

paramedics so seeing them take their time isn’t really an issue. The whole point of the picture is to prove the point that when there’s an urgent situation, we typically know better than to just take our

time to help it.

Who is the intended audience?

Page 9: By: Emily England. What is going on in this photograph?

The intended audience is directed towards people who exploit the environment. The advertisement tries to make

people who don’t take care of the environment come to a

realization of how important protecting it is. The organization WWF also tries to reach out to forest managers, conservation

practitioners, and investors that will want to help the cause.

The ethical appeal is the panda logo in the bottom corner saying WWF which stands for the World Wildlife Fund. This organization

has used the panda as their symbol since WWF was founded in 1961 because pandas are an endangered species and now there are fewer than 1,600

pandas in the wild. Today, WWF’s trademark is recognized as a

universal symbol for the conservation movement.

What is the logical appeal of the photo? What is the logical appeal of the photo?

Page 13: By: Emily England. What is going on in this photograph?

The logical appeal is that if we don’t act now and start

protecting our planet, nature is going to be destroyed. We act fast for urgent situations like car wrecks or medical

attention and our nature is in a state that needs to be

helped so why are we not acting fast to protect our

planet.

What is the emotional appeal of the photo? What is the emotional appeal of the photo?

Page 15: By: Emily England. What is going on in this photograph?

The emotional appeal is the fact that there’s a car wrecked in the background of the picture and

it’s on fire so there are obviously people in there that are needing urgent medical attention. This

brings out a sad emotion to the viewer but then in when you see

the ambulance and the paramedics just chilling, taking their time it makes you sort of

angry and confused on why they aren’t rushing to help the victims

that are right down the road.
