Composting Process:The Melting Pot for New Soil

Thesis: Making and using compost is a long-term and worthwhile investment to your garden because it contains almost all the nutrients needed for plants to grow and thrive. And composting doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated!

Step 1: Begin by deciding what size pile you want.

Step 2: Once you know the size, you are ready to purchase/make a compost

container.

Step 3: Now you are ready to start creating your compost pile by stockpiling ingredients.

Step 4: Then, when you

have enough leaves, grass clippings and other matter

saved up, you are ready to build

your pile.

Step 5:Once the pile is built, you will need to keep track of its temperature.

120-130 degrees needed

When the pile cools down, it will need to be turned so that the outer layer is moved to the inside the pile.

Don’t worry! Use a cheap thermometer!

Step 6: Wait 3 to 6 months . . .

Earthworms come in and do their part.

Conclusion: You and your plants will love the rich compost, and you won’t

need lots of artificial fertilizer!
