SummaryThe Capulets and the Montagues were two families in

Verona, but a feud had been created between them. Juliet, the daughter of Capulet, and Romeo, the son of Montague, fell madly in love after meeting at a party. Tybalt, Juliet’s cousin, entered a duel with Mercutio, Romeo’s friend. Tybalt overpowered Mercutio, killing him. In reaction, Romeo killed Tybalt causing Romeo to be banned from Verona. A few days after, Capulet announced to Juliet her arranged betrothal to Paris, a kinsman of the Prince. She took a poison to make herself seem dead and asked for Romeo to meet her in her family’s mausoleum. Unfortunately Romeo didn’t get the message and killed himself in devastation. When Juliet awakened she found her love lying next to her. In horror, she followed his lead, killing herself.

are Puerto Rican) and the Jets (which are all American White). A rivalry had formed between the two gangs, separating them by race. Maria, the younger sister of Bernardo (the leader of the Sharks), and Tony, best friend of Riff (the leader of the Jets), fell madly in love with each other. Bernardo grew angry and challenged the Jets to a rumble. Tony also showed up to the rumble, only to see Bernardo kill Riff. He grew angry and in a uncontrollable rage, Tony, stabbed and killed Bernardo. Later that night Chico, a shark, told Maria of her brother’s death by the hand of her lover. This caused her to fall into shock, but even in her grief she still loved Tony and sent her brother’s girlfriend ,Anita, to tell Tony to wait for her. Unfortunately, Anita was attacked by members of the Jets and in anger said Maria was dead. Later that night he found Maria but before they could embrace, Chico shot Tony from behind, killing him instantly. Maria was devastated by Tony’s death.
