Brad Whisnant, DAOM“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens.”

– Carl Gustav Jung

WHO AM I“Biggest reason people don’t succeed is because they don’t

expose themselves to the existing information”- Jim Rhome

I'm just Brad. I have no magic needle, no golden touch, I have no privileged information nor powerful potions. If I can do it? Anybody can! Step by step. Needle by needle, patient by patient,we learn. All this information is available to everybody. There are no secrets!

You just NEED TO PRACTICE and CRITCALLY think

WHO AM IIn 2007 I lost it all in the financial collapse and went volunteering….85% of all millionaires go broke, it’s a fact.

I failed miserably the first two years in acupuncture. It was spectacular! ☺– Plastic surgeon, detox center, MD, allergist clinic, nurse practitioner, bio

identical, spa, wellness center, therapy combo, solo practice, house calls, group, volunteer, working hourly, ER hospital, herbal house call van deal, old folks home, 4 overseas volunteer trips

In my clinic, I see 110-120 people a week on my own, each patient individually, no group treatments, no assembly line acupuncture. I see 25-30 people a day, and I work 9-6/7pm, Monday/Tuesday- Thursday/Friday. My wife runs the front office, I do all the herbs, treating, insurance, cleaning, laundry, make herbs, ordering of supplies and materials. We have only been open since 2009 March. We were at 76 people first week. I DIDN’T KNOW ANYBODY IN MY AREA! It was a small town, 12,000 people mostly of fisherman/farmers/blue collar workers, no acupuncture ever in the town.

Why am I here talking? Because I'm a novice. Because I'm new. Because I don’t know that much. If I can do this? YOU ALL CAN!!! I’M NOT SPECIAL!

WHO AM I“Double bottom line” business model

“Do good, Do well”

Service, community, volunteering, and profit can exist together.– I treat 5-10 people a week for free!– Another 5-10 on a sliding fee scale– 35% are cash rate (85$ and 50$, a little low for my area)– 65% insurance– Sell herbs, buy them from Evergreen, sell herbs at 30cents a gram– Use Designs for Health supplements, typically mark up 50-100%

Bottom line, you need to effective! It doesn’t matter what you do, but you need to be effective! You need to get results! Consistently!

It’s not about telling your friends how effective you are, it’s about your patients getting better and telling THEIR friends!

Either your patients, “your customers”, are happy or they are not.

Either you are meeting your patient’s expectations; or you are not.

Remember, your patients medical needs may be different than your Chinese medical desires.

It really is that simple!

WHO AM I TUNG POINTS

TUNG POINTS at TCM LOCATIONS

Same point location, different indications

TUNG POINTSWhat if you have always wanted to learn Master Tung points but were frustrated of the new or different point locations?

What if I told you Master Tung was a Master at the 14 channel acupuncture and there are many popular Tung points in TCM locations?

What if I told you that you already KNOW the location of 131 Master Tung points that are at the TCM locations? You just use them fordifferent indications.

TUNG POINTSFor any of you familiar with other distal methods like “Dr. Tan”, you will see a lot of overlay. Such as LU7-9 for low back pain. Both very similar.

Just remember it all works

I wont go over all the points, such as points for scarlet fever or dry cholera. I will show you the points that will most likely be seen and used in your clinic.

I’ll briefly describe a few reasons “why” each point works. But there is much more theory than I'm talking about here. See slides at end.

TUNG POINTSLU3 and LU4.

Low back pain, LU tai yin/BL tai yangthe image of LU3/4 reversed, and 12 sections

LU 5 and LU6Asthma because of the lung. Image, LU treats LU,LU tai yin/SP tai yin. Spleen controls diaphragm.

LU7 and LU10 Swelling of bones, usually for back pain, neck painLU tai yin/BL tai yang. Image. 12 sections, bone for bone

TUNG POINTS– LI14– Dizziness from hypertension, hypertension as well– 12 segments, LI yang ming/fixes the ST yang ming. ST runs into

the heart. Yang ming will also fix the jue yin. PC is jue yin, that controls the heart.

– Cardiac nerve, reaction area that runs thru this zone– 5 zang in Tung, that is on the “heart” zang.– Dizziness Is image of head, yang ming most qi and blood– LI will also fix LI/LU/ST/KI– LI14 is in what a muscle? Heart is a muscle. Tissue for tissue.– Metal will control the wood and insult the fire, 5 element

What better way to move qi and blood aggressive to move the debris from behind eye. We also have image, knees are eyes. ST runs up in to eyes. LV is eyes. LV is Jue yin. Again we see this relationship of Yang ming fixing Jue yin.

TUNG POINTSI didn’t cover any of bloodletting points or some of other

TCM points that are to close the groin or breast tissues.

I focused on points that you can easily get to and that you use on a regular basis with your TCM teachings.

You will need to study to understand the “why”. I have included a bunch of theory at the end for you

TUNG POINTSGo study with

Wei Chi Young, Dr. Tan, Dr. Chuan-Min Wang, Dr. James Maher, Robert Chu, Esther Su, Susan Johnson, Palden Carson

I would suggest to use me as a “starting point” in your education and to continue on with other “experts”.

FINAL THOUGHTSI found my own truth through 40,000 patients and continue to

find my way

You don’t have to listen to me

Use ANY teacher, as a guide….

You must WALK THE PATH

YOU MUST LEARN YOUR OWN TRUTH

Brad Whisnant, DAOM

www.sthelensacupuncturist.comIf you have additional questions? Go to my website

and I’d be happy to help you

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Mark Twain

Thank you!

Tissue for tissue correspondence.

So if you have a muscles problem? You need to needle into muscle.

If you have a bone problem? Make sure you needle taps bone.

If you have a tendon problem? Needle a tendon

TUNG THEORY12 Segments

Any bone can be broken down into 12 segments.

Head, neck, upper limbs, lung, liver, stomach, duodenum, kidney, low back, lower limbs, thigh, foot

Now you can see why LI4 helps your tummy? stomachOr LI11 gets dizziness? It’s the head

TUNG THEORY

Channel relationships.

Dr. Tan does it best.

5 relationshipsHand tai yin/Foot tai yin LU/SPHand tai yin/Foot tai yang LU/BLZang fu Relationship, LU/LI Clock opposite LU/BLSame channel LU/LUFive Zang extra relationships close to clock opposite

TUNG THEORY5 Zang on the body

So each limb is divided into 5 zang organs.

Going from lateral to medial on the thigh.

Between GB and ST is the LU zangOn ST channel is HT zangBetween ST and LV is the KD zangLV channel is LV/GB zang

Reaction/Nerve areas

There are nerves that when touched will do things for the body. Lots of indications that make no sense are because of this deeper understanding of nerves and what they do.

Such as 44.06, jian zhong. Helps the heart, why? Cardiac nerve.

77.28 guang ming. Helps the eyes, why? Optic nerve66.05 ST43 helps gynecological issues, why? Uterus nerve77.08-09-10-11, St36-37-38 so good for asthma? The pulmonary

and cardiac nerves are both there

TUNG THEORY

The top, the head treats the bottom the feet. DU20 heel pain.

The shoulder treats the hip, the elbow and the knee, foot and hand.

And you can reverse all of it. Again, see Dr. Tan does a great job
