William Brand Annet van Egmond

Design label Brand van Egmond is the pioneer in Dutch contemporary poetic lighting design. William Brand (1963) and Annet van Egmond (1964) graduated at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, the Netherlands, where he trained as an architect and she as a sculptor. They have been working for over 18 years as independent product desig-ners and are joint founders of Brand van Egmond. Together they are full-circle responsible for the design, art direction and production. The collection includes ‘prêt-a-porter’ pieces as well as tailor-made products. With their studio and laboratory background they make ‘haute couture’ pieces for an international public, spanning both residential and business projects. They work with leading architects and interior designers on special projects for hotels, clubs, casinos and restaurants. Their latest projects include an art installation of the mysterious Night Watch in the Dutch Embassy in Delhi. This project formed the basis for the new ‘claire-obscure’ Night Watch collection that ties tradition to today’s trendy space. For hotel Giardino in Ascona, Switzerland, the Icy Lady was literally ‘turned on its head’ to create a unique and stunning dining experience. Every year they create new hand crafted lighting sculptures, in total freedom and with a lot of fun and passion, never limited by reigning fashion and trends. Their collections are on show at trade exhibitions in Milan, Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and Courtrai and showrooms in Cologne and Utrecht. In 2004 the Hollywood shed its light over the 76th Academy Awards presentation in the US. In 2006 Patricia Urquiola selected Flower Power for the Design Yearbook 2007.
