Meet the Llewellyn’s

Ally, Terena and Ducky

My name is Terena, I am a mom of two great

kids. I have been at the Butte Rescue Mission for

about 4 months. When I was five years old, my

dad went to prison, after I had the courage to

speak out about him molesting my sister and me.

Then when I was eight years old my mom died in

a car accident. My younger sister was in the car

and somehow survived the car accident with only

a few scratches. We lived with my mom’s boy-

friend for awhile after the accident, then my aunt,

and my grandma until I was 16. Since then I have

been wandering.

Last year I was living in Idaho and had discovered

my long term boyfriend had been doing drugs

around our one year old child. I’ve never done

drugs in my whole life. I packed bags for me and

my two kids and left.

I would never take the chance of losing my kids! I came to Butte to get as far away as I

could from the situation.

Now I am here at the Mission. The Butte Rescue Mission has given me a safe and warm

place to stay until I get on my feet. It has been a real blessing for me. With everything that

has happened in my life, it can only be God that has set things in place for me. I am learn-

ing to be on my own and I can’t wait to see what my future holds!

Hold fast spring is on the way!

There is a lot of excitement around the Mission.

Excitement of different kinds. An excitement of

expectation for the coming of spring and the

warmth of sunshine that will bring.

A joyful excitement for the upcoming 2017 Spring Banquet and Auction! The 2017 Spring Banquet and Auction will be held Thursday, March 30th at the Butte Civic Center. Our speaker this year will be John Frank CFRE, a nationally and internationally recognized speaker and teacher. His life experience includes ministry to 23 countries, pastor of worship, teaching stewardship in third world countries, evangelist outreaches behind the Iron Curtain, as well as church leadership. If you have not had the time to send in your request to sponsor a table it is not too late. If you sponsor a table of 10 guests for $300 (tax deductible) you will bless not only the work of the Mis-sion but also your friends, co-workers and family members who will enjoy a won-derful meal, hear an inspiring speaker and be excited to bid on unique items in our silent auction! I hope to see you there! Then there is a nervous excitement about where the Mission may relocate. You

can imagine all the emotions that come with not knowing where one may find

shelter and a hot meal, if we are unable to find a new location. I am praying by the

time this goes to print we will have a new home for the Mission.

As we are facing times of uncertainty at the Mission, I find myself clinging to the

promises of Our Lord. His word tells us in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord

whatever you do and he will establish your plans”. I know beyond a doubt that

God is faithful and his plans for the Mission are so much greater than my plans,

and that brings me great comfort!

I had hoped that, by the time I was writing this, I would be able to tell you about a new location for the Mission. However, we are still in the process of looking for a suitable building. This is taking longer than any of us anticipated.

I want to thank several people for their dedicated work in helping to find a solution to our need for a new Mission location. First, I want to thank Rocky for her unending work. Not only has Rocky taken care of the day-to-day Mission business, she has also provided leadership and continual support in our efforts to find a new facility. Next, I want to introduce a new board member, Mike McLeod. Mike’s expertise in real estate could not have come at a more appropriate time. This reminds me that our Lord provides for us in our time of need. I also want to thank Brian Doherty (Fire Marshal) and Jeff Miller (Fire Chief) for their assistance and professionalism. Both of these gentle-men have accompanied us on several building inspections and worked closely with Rocky. I also want to thank all the other board members for their time to do building inspections and brainstorm for possible solutions.

As we begin the season of Lent I am reminded of death and resurrection and how this is tied into all parts of life. We have just celebrated Ash Wednesday and con-templated the death of our Lord but at the same time we look forward to Easter and the joy of His rising from the dead. Likewise, this is a time for every Christian to think about their earthly death and resurrection to an eternal life. I cannot help but think that the same is happening at the Butte Rescue Mission as we see the closing of the door at the old mission building and look forward to the open-ing of a new facility. Then, of course, there is the annual death and resurrection marked by the change of season from winter to spring and I am truly ready for spring.

Paul

An Easter Message There once was a man named George Thomas, a pastor in a small New

England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying

a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit.

Several eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began

to speak. “I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy

coming towards me swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage

were three little wild birds, shivering with cold fright. I stopped the lad and

asked, “What you got there son?”

“Just some old birds,” came the reply.

“What are you gonna do with them?” I asked.

“Take ‘em home and have fun with ‘em,” he answered. I’m gonna tease ‘em

and pull out their feathers to make ‘em fight. I’m gonna have a real good

time.”

“But you’ll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you do them?”

“Oh I got some cats,” said the little boy. “They like birds. I’ll take ‘em to

them.”

The pastor was silent for a moment. “How much do you want for those

birds, son?”

“Huh??!!! Why, you don’t want those birds, mister. They’re just plain old

field birds. They don’t sing, they ain’t even pretty!”

“How much?” the pastor asked again.

The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, “$10?”

The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed it

in the boy’s hand. In a flash, the boy was gone.

The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley

where there was a tree and a grassy spot. Setting the cage down, he opened

the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them

free.

Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor

began to tell this story:

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation, Satan had just come

from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. “Yes, sir, I just

caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew

they couldn’t resist. Got ‘em all!”

“What are you going to do with them?” Jesus asked.

Satan replied, “Oh, I’m gonna have fun! I’m gonna teach them how to marry

and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and

smoke and curse. I’m gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and

kill each other. I’m really gonna have fun!”

“And what will you do when you get done with them?” Jesus asked.

“Oh, I’ll kill ‘em,” Satan glared proudly.

“How much do you want for them?” Jesus asked.

“Oh, you don’t want those people. They ain’t no good. Why you’ll take them

and they’ll just hate you. They”ll spit on you, curse you and kill you!! You

don’t want those people!!”

“How much?” He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, “All your tears, and all your blood.”

Jesus said, “DONE!” Then He paid the price.

The pastor picked up the cage he opened the door and he walked from the

pulpit.

I’ve been working at the Butte Rescue Mission for

almost 2 years now. Rocky gave me a job after I

overcame my drug addiction and saw I was

applying myself more around the Mission. I’ve

been a full time staff member for nine months

now.

There are a lot of different jobs I could be doing,

but I would not get as much out of them as I do

working at the Mission. I have the chance to help

others through one of the most difficult things in

life to overcome which is drug addiction. It was

with the help of everyone who worked at the Mission when I walked through the

door in September of 2014, and by the Grace of God the I overcame my addiction. I

can only hope that I can be an example for someone that is struggling with the same

thing I was able to overcome.
