‘But some day it is essential to read Capital to the letter. To read the text itself, complete.’ - Althusser, Reading Capital (1968) The Marx Research Seminar is the leading research group at the University of Lincoln for the development of Marxist research, criticism and scholarship. Focusing primarily upon canonical works, the group meets fortnightly to read and discuss Marx’s Capital (1867). This format enables those with time limitations to engage fully with selected texts without the need for lengthy preparation. Our approach to texts has proved to be one of the most accessible, requiring little prior knowledge and encouraging discussion at all levels and abilities. The research group warmly invites all students and staff. We are excited to be hosting a diverse range of sessions this year, including a series of speakers and expert scholars. The Marx Research Seminar will be hosting its first conference in the summer of 2016. For further details please refer to our events calendar.

‘It will always be a fault not to read and reread and discuss Marx […] we no longer have any excuse, only

alibis for turning away from this responsibility. There will be no future without this. Not without Marx. No

future without Marx. Without the memory and the inheritance of Marx: in any case of a certain Marx,

of his genius, of at least one of his spirits.’

- Derrida, Spectres of Marx (1993)
