Ladies and Gentlemen,

South Africa remains Germany’s most important trading partner on the African continent, and with a share of 40 per

cent, it is by far Africa’s most important market. The Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union, the Republic of South Africa and further nations in southern Africa signed in July 2014 is providing new impetus to our mutual trade relation-ship. South Africa in particular offers a significant outlook to the business community in Rhineland-Palatinate.The large proportion of medium-sized businesses has left its mark on our federal state’s economy. They are known for having reliable, highly qualified specialists whose performance capability and flexibility have contributed to the high quality of ‘Made in Germany’, the trademark known around the globe. This applies to the traditional sectors – automotive, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, mechanical and plant engineering – as much as it does to relative newcomers like environmental and climate protection, renewable energy, solar and wind power, engineering and consulting services, the healthcare industry and of course, wine production. We would like to introduce the members of our economic delegation to you in this brochure. The companies are presen-ting products and services known for their high quality ‘Made in Germany’. They come from a variety of sectors, but they are all interested in developing long-term business relationships with South African partners.I place a high priority on encouraging an international exchange of expert knowledge and experience as a means of generating be-nefits to all the parties involved. This is the best way to retain our quality of life, safeguard jobs and protect our environment. I wish all of the prospective partners much success and many valuable business contacts.

Bierther was founded in 1972 as a sales agency for injection moul-ding machines. Shortly after it was founded, the product range was extended especially to include ancillary equipment. Over the next years, the business activities focused more on peripheral sys-tems. At the beginning of the 90s, the decision was made to stop the activities in injection moulding machines and concentrate on ancillary systems. The main products we offer are hopper loaders and desiccant dryers. Today we see ourselves as a solution provider for ancillary equip-ment and peripheral systems for the plastics industry. In 2003 we introduced a second segment: Bierther provides single-face flat lapping and polishing machines. In cooperation with LAMPLAN S. A., the technology leader in diamond slurry, we can offer a complete lapping or polishing solution.
