Business Studies in Croatia Day 1 Arrive Zagreb mid-day. Bus to Varaždin and settle into accommodation at Hotel*** Mid-afternoon Guided tour of Varaždin Back at the hotel, we review Croatia’s economic strengths, weaknesses and challenges for business Day 2 After breakfast , meeting to discuss MIV’s business Morning - Visit to MIV Foundry - Europe’s only surviving fully integrated mfr of iron sewerage valves. Experience a forge in action and see the production process from collection of scrap metal through to the final product on the pallet for transport. Afternoon - visit to Mayor’s Office to discuss politics and economics of Croatia’s position in the EU (subject to Mayor’s schedule). Evening - Dinner and activity (ten pin bowling or swimming) Day 3 Rafting down the Drava River with lunch on the riverbank ~ plenty of time for swimming. We invite local Croatian business studies students to join us. Free time in the evening to enjoy Varaždin night-life. Day 4 After breakfast, meeting to discuss Solvis and Hažić businesses Morning - Visit to Solvis, mfr of solar panels– factory visit followed by discussion-presentation by management Early afternoon - visit to Sveti Martin Hotsprings Afternoon - visit to Hažić Vineyard. Opportunity for students to present a marketing strategy for Hažić to improve its sales of apple products and wine. Wine tasting and education subject to school approval.
