HISTORY OF BUSINESS

Multiple companies such as, World Bike Relief, Pedals for Progress, Wheels 4 Life, Working Bikes Co-op, Pastors for Peace, Bikes-Not-Bombs and other major businesses have used the concept of accepting bike donations of all sorts, from all around the country (mostly only in bulk due to shipping costs).

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

PRODUCTS SERVICES (COURSE)

Customized tire valve stems

Bike seats Sell baskets (One for One

TOMS idea) Bicycle chains as trinkets Selling helmets (One for

One): This helmet buys [ x amount of helmets] for people in South Sudan.

The course addresses the need for money to fund the enterprise. I do not want this enterprise to be solely charity (giving of bikes) because with charity you cannot control the quantity, quality, function or size of bikes. Money is needed to buy new bikes and pay for shipping & handling.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES CONTD.COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is comprised of multiple

classes designed for people ages 12+. The proceeds from the course will be used to purchase new bikes and repair/refurbish old bikes. People who are part of the course will be learning how to repair bikes using bikes that will be sent off to South Sudan. Their final project will be to repair a bike relying solely on the knowledge they have acquired during the course. These bikes will also be sent off to South Sudan. Therefore, the students will be directly affecting change. This business will eventually want to grow to plan service trips for students who are interested in giving the bicycles they fixed in person.

MARKETING

Customer I am selling to customers inside the US. These customers will probably be

mostly cyclists. The consumers who will benefit from the courses will range in age.

Distribution My products will be distributed online and in-store at the same

location the courses will be held. I hope that eventually, my product will expand to be in stores around the country and world, and worn by cyclist.

Advertisement I will inform my market on major social networking website such as

Hulu, YouTube, Vimeo, LinkedIn, hi5, Skyrock, Friendster, myspace, Tumblr, StumbleUpon, eBay, Google and Twitter. Also on cycling-enthusiast threads. In addition, once the company grows, having commercials and major cyclists endorse KOBS. Having fundraisers at local schools. The grand prizes being a free course at the KOBS workshop would also be a great way to spread the word and increase revenue.

SCALABILITY

We will expand courses to include online courses and DVDs. The business will also become larger via endorsements and advertisement on major and local bike races. KOBS will expand to partner with Jodie Wu's Global Cycle Solutions to tailor attachments that will be useful to inhabitants of South Sudan.

Five-years from now… In five years, KOBS expects to have a functioning facility

for which to hold courses and workshops, receive bicycles and products, and for the fast-finisher to have all the necessary communicative tools. KOBS will already have made at least 3 trips to South Sudan to personally drop off the bicycles.
