The problem with refrigerators has been exactly the same for 100 years or more - they use air temperature as the signal to control their refrigeration cycle (ie. when the fridge starts and stops).

But we buy refrigeration units to cool food, not air! And switching this focus in a Client’s fridges can make a huge difference to their energy consumption, because air changes temperature much more rapidly than food. The air in a unit may have warmed and need cooling, but if the food is still at the perfect temperature then that energy is wasted!

What is CUES?CUES (Chilled Unit Energy Saver) is an NSF approved technology that changes the way refrigerators work. Using a non-toxic wax food simulant in a protective enclosure to mimic food temperature, it sends signals to control the refrigeration cycle in a far more efficient way.

Typically, that means the average cycle last longer, but is 80% less frequent. With no compromise to food temperature or safety, the client can enjoy up to 33% energy savings.

Maintaining a comfortable ambient room temperature may account for the largest portion of a building’s energy bill.

Most Air Conditioning systems are designed to cope with the extremes of temperature on the few hottest days of the year, with many then further oversized by design – just in case. Similar to the problem with AC induction motors in general, air-con systems are designed to work harder than they will almost ever need to. That lack of intelligence means they expend a huge amount of extra energy doing so.

What is ACES?ACES (Air Conditioning Energy Saver), incorporates a microprocessor controller that captures information from sensors accurate to a fraction of one degree, to regulate compressor cycles. In short, it ensures your clients have exactly the temperature they need - no more and no less – and it saves up to 35% of energy costs in the process.

The applications are myriad, but ACES is obviously particularly popular in businesses where keeping cool is key - fast food chains, hotels, convenience stores, offices and so on.

Motor Energy ReductionAC induction motors consume more than half of all the world’s electricity, yet motors can be incredibly wasteful.

Crucially, machines usually have no sense of how hard they need to work. They simply work at the power they are designed to, regardless of the true load. In many cases, they could achieve the same results with considerably less energy spent.

Think about an escalator - does the motor need to expend the same energy carrying one person, as it’s max capacity of 100 people?

What is Integra?In the right applications, our intelligent motor control product ‘Integra’ can save up to 50% of the energy a machine would typically consume.

Firstly, Integra dynamically adjusts the amount of energy a motor uses in direct proportion to the job of ‘work’ it does. It introduces the intelligence required for the motor to know what load it has and perfectly adapt to it.

Energy ManagementYour Recurring Revenue If you were to ask any of our largest clients around the world - 7-Eleven, IBM, KFC, Walmart and so on - what they value the most about what our partners provide them, it’s the service.

Building on that successful PoC, IQ Energy convinced 7-Eleven to roll out Eniscope across all their stores in Denmark. What’s more, new PoC installations are underway in Sweden and Norway, and the client has recommended Eniscope internally to all seven countries in the area.

In this project, EnergyCloud are working hand-in-hand with IBM to monitor and manage energy consumption at Lima Airport, Peru - the country’s largest international airport.

The Proof of Concept (PoC) in this case revolved around chiller systems. Having quickly and seamlessly delivered 22% savings in this area, EnergyCloud were granted rights to a full energy management rollout and a ten year contract for the facility. Working closely with the IBM facilities management team, they now provide energy management as a service.

International Support Marketing & Technical AssistanceOf all the areas of running an energy efficiency business, there are two that we find require the most direct support from our UK-based team:

Marketing We understand that, particularly at the start of your business or new department, generating ‘leads’ can be a difficult and daunting task. If your background is not in marketing, then the prospect of procuring databases, setting up email campaigns, handling social media and designing a brand and website will all be scarily unfamiliar!

To assist, we have built an experienced marketing department who are on hand to provide all of these things and more. New partners can get a full brand, including logo and colour palette, within days of starting with BEST. Within weeks, they can have a market-leading website up and running, complete with case studies, product pages and enquiry forms ready to generate new leads. ESA AccreditationThe Energy Saving AssociationFollowing your graduation from the training course, you will automatically qualify for 3 months free membership of the Energy Saving Association. This is an international organisation which has been created to give independent business owners an immediate sense of credibility and belonging in the industry.

Of course, ESA membership is much more than just a logo you can use!
