Our new Blitz is ‘Organisation’. We have listed ways children can show

their organisational skills at school to help things run smoothly. This

would also be a great ‘blitz’ to reinforce at home. A copy of the poster

is included in this newsletter.

Next week is our music day at the Hamilton Eisteddfod. Thank you to

all families who have returned the permission slip and the travel ar-

rangements form. We need these forms to be back by Tuesday at the

latest so we can make the necessary arrangements. The bus will de-

part at 9am sharp on Thursday so we are at the PAC in time for our

first event. Please contact Tammy on Monday if you have any issues

with uniform items.

The junior council are organising a casual dress day on Friday, 14th

June. There will be a theme and the money raised will go to a special

cause selected by our junior council representatives. More infor-

mation will be sent home shortly.

We have certainly entered the cold and wet season this week. It has

meant a lot of indoor play and all the heaters have been cranked up.

The school grounds are already showing the benefits of the rain, with

the grass and plants enjoying a drink.

I will be at the principals’ conference in Melbourne on Monday. Mrs

McNaughton will be taking my class.

Have a great weekend,

Anthony Hill

On the 20th of march 600 men

were put to work 200 of the men

sick man was to fall he would get

They had to dig right through the

centre of the mountain. After they

dug through the mountain they

had to build the train track.

THE HARSH CONDITIONSEven though the war in Java was on there were an even harder fight to stay alive in the camp. With the harsh conditions from poor hygiene to little food. There also was the diseases, the hard work for the sick, the bad treatment they got and the sad death. This made it a hard three years for them.

“A Rural Tradition of Excellence”

Eisteddfod – Thursday, 6th June

Children are expected to arrive at school on Thursday dressed in their formal, winter uniform.

Winter formal wear (from the Cavendish PS uniform policy) (This uniform should be worn on more formal occasions such as school photo day, Eisteddfod and whenever the students are performing in public)

Girls Boys . Winter tartan skirt or navy gabardine trousers Navy gabardine trousers Navy tights White polo shirt White polo shirt Navy rugby jumper Navy rugby jumper Black shoes or boots Black school shoes Hair ties, ribbons or bands in navy or white.

Please take care to have shoes brushed and hair neat. Children need to bring all their food and drink requirements with them in their bags, as we will be in Hamilton for all of the day. We will depart at 9.00am sharp. The Eisteddfod program starts at 9.30am and we are in the first section this year. We will need to allow time for unloading our instruments, visiting the toilet and finding our seats. It is impossible to provide accurate times for each section. The program moves on to a new section as each previous section is completed. There is no cost for the children but adults will be charged an admission at the door. MORNING PROGRAM (starts at 9.30am): 1. Sacred Song and Carol (9 competitors in total – each to sing one piece). The whole school is entered in this section. We are competitor number 8. 2. We will have our marimbas, drum kit and xylophones to organise.

When eleven-year-old Juniper May receives a petition signed by her entire class stat-ing that she is ‘the most hated person in the school’ her life is thrown into complete meltdown. Juniper stops eating, she refuses to return to school and her parents be-come increasingly desperate. Finally, after exhausting all other avenues her parents resort to the only thing they have left, a giant singing robot. Based on a true story, Robot Song illustrates the profound, transformative nature of creativity that, when combined with unconditional love, becomes an unstoppable force. For Juniper, creativity opens doors into places she never knew existed, allow-ing her to be defined on her own terms for the first time. Robot Song is a deeply personal story. It shares an honest, intensely funny and often unconventional window into writer/director Jolyon James’ experience parenting a child on the Autism Spectrum. The show poses and attempts to answer the ques-tion, how do we support, foster and celebrate difference in our children in the face of an increasingly rigid and homogenised world? Robot Song is a genuine family show. It is joyful and full of hope. It is for any child who has ever felt isolated or pushed to the margins and any parent desperate for tools to help. The show employs cutting edge digital technology, startling anima-tronics and a beautiful original musical score.
