Business Update Spring 2007 Business Meeting Update / 1 Innovex is all about people. People, rather than products, are at the heart of our business. Each member of staff has a unique and important role to play, and each individual must understand how they fit into the bigger picture. Our business relies on the individuals who make up the team, and the strength of the team depends on the individual strengths of each player. To demonstrate this in the most creative way possible, two team building experiences took place at the recent Company Meeting on 6th and 7th March at Beaumont House Hotel, Old Windsor. Our objective was to give head office staff and field managers the opportunity to experience the strength of a team working together in harmony - and in full colour! The first event – The Big Picture - culminated in the joining together of 40 individually painted panels, each created by a small team of 8 or 9 delegates, to create a huge 8m x 4m picture. Unveiled at the Gala Dinner, the huge gasp of amazement - ‘did we really do that?’ - developed rapidly into an ear-splitting round of applause! An image of this amazing picture (see above) is going to be displayed in the foyer of the Innovex Head Office in Bracknell. The output of the second team building event – Orchestrate - was the Innovex symphony orchestra which brought together 180 people of varying musical abilities (actually, the majority had never before played an instrument!), who gave, after some intensive training, a very credible debut performance. Both these team building sessions proved how a motivated team, all working towards a shared goal, with excellent training and a good leader can produce a whole which is much greater than the sum of the parts. And a lot of fun was had too! Both the Big Picture and the Orchestrate exercises demonstrated the importance of the key behaviours which underpin our Company Values (Customer service, Quality, Leadership, Integrity and Teamwork). Being a Team Player: Any group of people, whether it’s an orchestra or a business, will only function to its best potential if it contains individuals with a wide range of skills and talents, and if these individuals support one another’s roles and work for the ultimate benefit of the whole team. Taking Ownership: Every task is important and is an opportunity to impress customers. We must each be aware of our responsibilities and of how our behaviour and attitude impacts on the business, the team and the customer, no matter what our role. Leadership: To maintain our position as market leader, we must continue to apply our leadership skills. Whoever runs the team needs to take responsibility for their actions, must be aware of the ‘bigger picture’ and must demonstrate passion, motivation and huge amounts of energy to their team. Being Creative: A strong team should nurture an innovative spirit and entrepreneurial attitude - be open and responsive to new ideas and to change. However, innovators must involve the team and keep the team objectives to the forefront - no room for mavericks working on their own! Meeting What You Told Us Following a fairly challenging time in the pharmaceutical market place, we wanted the meeting to underline that Innovex is definitely the place to be. We asked our delegates to describe how they felt after the event. The Leadership

Team have agreed a

new Vision for

Innovex:

Innovex is the best provider of sales and healthcare teams.

The Vision was launched at the

Company Meeting in March where I had

the opportunity to introduce myself, my

values and my style of working. I

pointed out my beliefs in open

communication, in performance and in

delivering results; being willing to

challenge and to be challenged; being

willing to listen and learn - but not at all

interested in coming second!

I want Innovex to win every piece of

outsourcing business on offer, to deliver

it superbly and to be the undisputed

market leader!

The behaviours I want to see all

Innovex people demonstrate - taking the

lead, being creative, taking ownership

and being a team player - were

highlighted during the team building

sessions at our March meeting. The

production of our Big Picture proved that

when we work together, when we

communicate well within our own team

and when we are fully aware of the

objectives of the teams around us, then

we can produce remarkable results.

Your role in delivering to the highest

possible standard is essential to Innovex’s

success. Excellent delivery and

performance execution may well lead

either to an extension of the current

contract, or make us the automatic choice

when other opportunities arise. Our

market place is like a village – people

‘chat’ about their experiences with

suppliers and this plays a part in their

decision making. This can often carry

more weight than the slickest

presentation delivered by a business

developer! Each of us must take

ownership of every task; we must look to

impress customers at every opportunity.

Whatever you are doing, at every touch

point, do your utmost to delight your

customer.

To deliver well we need to be aware of

(and fully understand), our customer’s

key performance indicators (KPI’s).

Achievement of KPI’s means success for

us and our customer. Our ambition

should be to achieve 100% but if we have

projects which go into the “red” zone -

and they will, as long as we know what

has happened and find a solution to take

it back to “green” we will succeed.

Our marketplace will continue to

evolve and, therefore, we need to stay in

touch with our customer’s aspirations and

challenges, so we can refresh the KPI’s,

as appropriate, ensuring we are

measuring what is still relevant to our

customer.

To achieve our Vision we must be the

best at performance execution and in this

we are totally dependent on our greatest

asset and resource - our people. It is their

enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment

which we offer to our customers. So, we

must ensure our people are highly

motivated, well-led, coached and in

possession of the relevant skills; well-

briefed and informed; and made to feel

an important part of our Innovex

“family”.

Together we have started on the long

and exciting journey to realise our new

Company Vision. In the process, we will

be building on our capabilities and

making Innovex a truly great company,

not just the best CSO in Healthcare but

the best there is!

Good luck and I look forward to

speaking to you again soon.

Colin HannahManaging Director, Innovex (UK) Ltd.

A New Vision for InnovexAfter the challenges faced in the team

building events, it was time for everyone to

dress up, relax and enjoy themselves as we

celebrated company, team and individual

achievements at the glamorous Leadership

Team Awards Ceremony.

While staff relaxed and changed into their

eveningwear, the room was transformed from a

‘paintworks’ into a glittering ballroom. The

tables were beautifully decorated and the

champagne uncorked in readiness for the
