• Give job seekers what they need to
have a long-term career success
• Better prepare Colorado youth for career
and postsecondary pathways
• Open pathways to advanced education
and training for all Coloradans
• Increase graduation rates and decrease
the attainment gap through “earn while
you learn” model
• Reduce cost of recruitment by
businesses in Colorado
All stakeholder groups will know:
• WHO are the relevant parties
involved in the statewide
experiential learning system
and how they work together
• WHAT experiential learning
system tools can be leveraged
and contributed to
• HOW to participate in the
experiential learning system
All stakeholder groups will receive/access information via:
• Websites (TalentFOUND.org,
CareerWiseColorado.org)
• Social media
The BEL Commission is establishing a statewide experiential learning system
that will strengthen the pipeline of talent into Colorado’s workforce. The system
will partner with business to increase access to skilled talent, ensure
individuals have career paths to the middle class, and maintain and grow a
competitive Colorado economy.
Additional Speaking Points
Businesses need to become producers, not just consumers of talent.
“Experiential learning” is the process of learning where individuals develop skills and knowledge from hands-on experience in addition to the traditional classroom setting.
This effort will ultimately focus on all job-seekers and industries in Colorado.
Research shows the most successful experiential learning programs in the world focus on youth, which is why CareerWise Colorado was launched and is already leading youth apprenticeship efforts.
The BEL Commission and CareerWise Colorado will provide support to help businesses offer apprenticeships.
A new Work-based Learning Unit will be established at CDLE to coordinate and guide this effort.
talentFOUND is the existing marketing
and communication gateway to help individuals and businesses find their unique path to success.
The BEL Commission will utilize the talentFOUND brand, communication methods and tools to increase awareness and improve perception of experiential learning.
CareerWise Colorado is aligning its communication plan with talentFOUND. www.talentFOUND.org
Stakeholders must know of changes in the process and how to work with
the new opportunities, tools and resources available to them. A strategic
approach and plan for development improves stakeholders performance,
proficiency and speed to adopting new sustainable skills and capabilities.
Objectives • Empower Work-based Learning Unit administrators to support development efforts through design and execution of support materials
• Coordinate with various stakeholder groups to leverage common support materials
