The future of VoIP is looking very interesting.
By 2025, I see no phones on desks anywhere! Think about it what do you
need two phones for?
Wearables are starting to make some movement, but I dont see them replacing
the phone. People want something they can see and type on, so I dont see
them taking over the world as much as some may predict.
Cell phone services will not be needed anymore, just data.
I see soft phones on all computers, and your mobile phone will be your one
phone for everything. You can have multiple numbers all ringing to one device,
and the ability to place calls from any number you have on that one device,
without having to open an app.
I also see cellular companies becoming data companies.

I see a huge change in how conversations, collaboration and video end
points emerge by 2025. This is driven by the upcoming onslaught of the
Internet of Things, the momentum of mobile first, and the emergence of virtual and augmented reality.
Personal drones will provide find my car, geo-fencing, enhanced cell service on 5G/6G, cameras, and an abundance of new self-learning
applications to manage life.
Consider mobile devices will be your primary calling and collaboration
tool, be audio and video end points and will have built-in functions where
video calls and conferencing will be the normal communications in virtual
reality style conference rooms and offices.
This is driven by the upcoming onslaught of theInternet of Things, the momentum of mobile first, and the
emergence of virtual and augmented reality.

Its Evan Kirstels 55th birthday, 2025.
His artificially intelligent assistant greets him of the key news items, events of the day, priority messages, meetings, and urgent action items.
My important items are addressed through a natural language interface while I
get ready for work and prepare for my hour long commute.
Upon entering my self-driving car, I initiate a 6G video call through a hologram
projected on the dashboard. Via HD virtual reality, I engage in a discussion about
an upcoming sales conference. My virtual assistant records notes and key actions
from the meeting, presenting the team with a summary and recording next steps
in our meeting space for later review.
My day ends and I manage to grab a quick nap in the car on the commute home.
Upon entering my self-driving car, I initiate a 6G video call through a hologram projected on the dashboard.

The future of business communications is what I call Optimized
Communications. This is the use of specific communication and interaction tools and technologies for businesses and organizations in order to optimize
organizational goal attainment while enhancing the user experience.
Users have the flexibility to use the tools they want, when they want, how they want.
Communications and interactions are optimized for the organization as well
as for the users (both internal and external to the organization) allowing user
choice in terms of device, channel or mode, location, and consumption model.
It will be contextual, providing users with knowledge of previous interactions,
information on the other parties, while providing information and data that the
users will need to enhance their interaction.

The technologies and tools that comprise business communications
will ultimately evolve to suit the needs of the workplace over the next ten
years.
I think networks will be all-IP, and TDM will be gone, at which point it
wont need to be called VoIP well just call it voice.
I certainly expect VoIP will be central to business communications in
2025, but in different forms from today.
Desk phones will be gone, and probably PSTN-based dialing. Voice will
simply be embedded in every form of connectivity and serve as one of
many modes that give sustenance to IoE, the uber-force we will all come
to embrace.

Over a third of enterprise communications infrastructure will be deployed in the
cloud, with most large organizations deploying complex hybrid (premises-based
and cloud) environments.
Business IT departments will expect most employees to use their own smart
devices for business purposes.
Hard desktop phones will remain business users primary communications
endpoints, but will be increasingly complemented by mobile devices and
various soft clients; approximately a quarter of business users will abandon the
desktop phone for soft clients and mobile devices.
WebRTC and other advanced technologies will enable businesses to more easily
embed communications into business applications and thus streamline and
improve critical business processes.
