Business Card Design – Is there a hard and fast rule?

description

http://6starmedia.com/business-card-design-is-there-a-hard-and-fast-rule/ - I would like you to think for a moment, how many business cards you have been given, and what you have done with them. If you are like most people you bin them, that’s right, you toss the card in the bin as it has no real use to you. We'll discuss what that person could have done to make a better business card.

Business Card Design – Is there a hard and fast rule?

Today we need to discuss the design of business cards.

I would like you to think for a moment, how many business cards you have

been given, and what you have done with them. If you are like most people you bin them, that's right, you toss the card in the bin as it has no real use to

you.

With that in mind, I would like to ask you a question – If the business card was deemed as valuable, would you have kept it? What if it had a special offer on it or something else of value,

would you have kept it safe? My answer to that is yes, I would love to read what

yours is, leave a comment will you?

So, let's go back now to my subject line, Business Card Design – Is there a hard

and fast rule? Most of you would say no, there isn't, however, I would say yes,

and that rule is “The business card must be designed in a way, that is valuable,

that people want to keep it and it becomes a silent sales person for you.” Anything less, then forget about having

a business card as it is like emptying good money into the trash can.

Remember a business card has 2 sides, Use the back!  So often I am handed a

card, with only 1 side in use – not much thought had gone into the card,

wouldn't you say…

I believe that as well as your details, and your Logo, successful business

cards  need to have your unique selling proposition (You do have one don’t you?) plus a special offer, or

something on it to make people want to keep it, to make people remember you, when they want your goods or service, and make them get out the

card and pick up the phone.

One card I received, had a fantastic offer on it, and that was to go to a website, and download a FREE PDF

book, on Organic Gardening.  Yes you guessed it; the card came from a

gardening centre.  Also, you could sign up for their monthly newsletter.

On the back it had a URL to their website to download a FREE book of

your choice – choices were dogs, cats, birds, fish.  Then when you got

to the download page, you get an option of signing up for a

newsletter, where each month, you get discounts of certain products and lots of information on various

subjects pertaining to pet care.  ON THE SAME DOWNLOAD PAGE, you

can refer a friend/s.  If you do, your friends, get a 20% discount voucher for their first purchase at the store and you also get 20% off your next

order.
