CURRICULUM DAY TOMORROW
END OF YEAR DANCE/GLEE
PERFORMANCE
On Tuesday night we were all treated to a musical
and dance spectacular. The kindergarten children
started the performance off with a wonderful
display of twists and turns, clapping and tapping
and smiles that shone brightly.
The evening performance of the Dance Group and
The Glee Group had the audience in awe. From
“Let’s Go Fly a Kite” to the Finale it was a night of
music, dance, colour and excitement. For all those
who witnessed these performances I know you
would have shared in the pride staff felt at seeing
such a display of talent dancing before you. From
the very youngest of students to the oldest, the
enthusiasm, the fun and joy of performing was
evident….a passion for all things dramatic.
There is nothing like seeing the students so keen to
learn and perform. The practical components of
performance are very important and it is these that
the students will take away with them long after
they have left the school. Self-confidence, poise and
self-awareness are aspects of performance that will
stand them in good stead for their journey forward.
I acknowledge the contribution of Mrs Whiteoak,
Mr Miet, Ms Crystal and Miss Whitelaw in making
this all possible. The supporting staff puts the icing
on the cake…and of course, the wonderful students
who have seized this opportunity and made the best
of it and the parents who have given such support.
Thank you to Mrs Lefebure for assisting in the
production of the amazing dance outfits. It was
indeed a whole school effort.
A few weeks ago forty students had the opportunity
to go “on tour” and perform at another school and
the acclaim was the same. I spoke with the principal
of the Traralgon school the other day and she
informed me the students and the staff at her school
thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and
understood the commitment and dedication that
staff and students at Burwood Heights Primary
School must have to be able to perform at such a
high level.
MORE TOURS NEXT YEAR!
WELL DONE, EVERYONE

Well, here we are in Term Four, once again the year has flown by so quickly!
For some of us it is mixed emotions – excitement as our little ones move onto kinder or school, they have made new
friends and discovered new ways to play and are no longer the babies they once were!
Some of the original Playgroup kids will be in Grade 2 next year!
For me, my youngest moves on to Prep, starting his journey of independence. I hope the teachers have the tissues ready
that first day of school!
This term we started using our new outdoor play area off the side door to the hall – a fully enclosed area for the little ones
to play outside.
There has been much ‘busyness’ hanging out washing, ‘cooking’ and pottering around.
Enrolments are open for 2015 playgroup – new families are always welcome, and we cater for children aged 0-5.
We provide a variety of toys, puzzles, dress ups, dramatic play, art & crafts, plus outdoor play.
Playgroup provides an opportunity for children to play, learn and develop social skills, share special time with their
parents/carers; parents get to play with their children in a relaxed environment, get support and develop friendships.
Playgroup is fun! There are many and varied activities, new children to play with and group activities your children may
not experience at home.
Sessions are on Tuesdays and Fridays 9:15-11:15
If you would like to join or come along for a free trial session contact:

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Christmas and New Year with lots of play and fun!
