The best protection you can give your plant!

Danfoss Eliminator® burn-out filter driers, type DAS, are used temporarily in the suction line to clean up plant systems with fluorinated refrigerants after a compressor motor burn-out. Reasons for a burn-out situation can be many. Normally, the compressor is overloaded because of:

• The appearance of moisture, dirt and air in the plant system

• A defective start situation due to lack of maintenance of the condenser

• Refrigerant failure due to lack of sufficient charge

• Hot gas temperatures exceeding 1750C

By utilising the Danfoss Eliminator® burn-out filter drier, your plant system is cleaned. Thereby you avoid a new replaced compressor against premature failures.

The 7 steps in cleaning your system after a compressor burn-out:

If you suspect a motor burn-out start by analyzing the acid content of the lubricant from the compressor. Today there are different brands of test kits on the market, which can be utilized.

Depending on the results from above step a plan should be made concerning replacement of the compressor in question as well as the refrigerant and other components. Make sure to consult the experienced service personnel in this respect.

Replace the burn-out compressor with a new one.

Clean the entire pipe work, as well as the condenser and the evaporator, with the necessary chemical cleaning substance – contact your local wholesaler for right brand advice.

Install a Danfoss Eliminator® burn-out filter drier type DAS in the suction line – refer to the quick selection guide on page 4.

The acid content can be checked regularly as well as the pressure drop across the filter drier and the burn-out filter drier is replaced if necessary. When oil check shows that the system no longer contains acid, the burn-out filter drier is removed and a new DCL or DML liquid line filter drier is installed in the liquid line. Also, a replacement of the moisture indicator, i.e. SGI or SGN sight glass, might be necessary.
