Your cycling adventure begins in the historic town of Dijon, the heading south along the Route de Grands
Crus past many famous wine villages to reach Nuits-Saint-Georges. Continuing south to Beaune, know as
the wine capital of Burgundy, where you can discover the history and superb ambiance of the towns
pretty flower filled squares, museums and wine cellars. Continue south again through the Côte de
Beaune with the reward of cycling through the world’s best known wine villages of Pommard, Meursault,
and Puligny-Montrachet before reaching Chagny. Next following the Voie Verte, a delightful cycle track
alongside the Canal du Centre where you join the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise to Givry and then the
abbatial town of Cluny before the final days cycling to Macon.
Your cycling holiday in Burgundy includes 6 days of easy to moderate cycling. The route follows quiet
roads and dedicated cycle paths (voie verte). The daily distance varies from 25 to 45 km (approx 3 hours

DAY 1
Arrive Dijon
Your Burgundy cycling adventure begins in Dijon
which is 1h35 by TGV from Paris or 2h00 by train
from Lyon Airport.
Wandering the streets of Dijon is like a stroll
through centuries of history, and is know as one
of Frances most appealing provincial cities with
its elegant, medieval renaissance buildings.
Our local representative will meet you at your
hotel this evening for a brief welcome meeting.
Dinner & overnight: Hotel Philippe Le Bon,
Dijon
A delightful 3 star hotel located in the heart of the
old town. Boasting friendly staff, comfortable
rooms and an excellent restaurant serving
delicious local cuisine and wines.
DAY 2
Cycle Dijon to Nuit Saint Georges
A sublime day’s cycling awaits you following the
Route de Grands Crus to Nuits-Saint-Georges.
You will cycle the peaceful lanes through the
patchwork of vineyards to visit Gevrey-
Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis, Chambolle-
Musigny and Vougeot, all famous villages of the
Côte de Nuits.

Nuit Saint Georges
Perfectly located, in the wine region of Nuits-
Saint-Georges. This 3 star Burgundy hotel is
housed in a 16th-century hunting lodge offering
comfortable rooms and modern amenities.
DAY 3
Cycle Nuit Saint Georges to Beaune
You will leave Nuits Saint Georges heading for
Beaune known as the Wine Capital of Burgundy
and the very best place in the region for wine
tastings!
A relatively gentle cycle awaits you passing
through villages and vineyards, on route you can
visit the Hospices of Beaune one of the finest
examples of French fifteenth-century
architecture, and now a museum. A visit here is a
must before continuing on towards Beaune.
No trip in Burgundy would be complete without a
visit to Beaune, seat of the Dukes of Burgundy
until the 14th century. The jewel of Beaune is the
old city, where you can visit the magnificent Hotel
Dieu, or maybe just a visit to the famous wine
cellars to sample their own jewels!

Dinner & overnight: Hotel Athanor
Beaune
This 3 star hotel is ideally located in the heart of
the towns historic centre. Built in Burgundy stone
and filled with frescos and French charm, you will
find it hard not to enjoy the characteristics of this
historic building and warm welcome of the staff.
DAY 4
Cycle to Chagny
A wonderful day cycling in and around some of
the vineyards of the big guys! Heading south
again you will cross the Côte de Beaune going
through the best known villages such as
Pommard, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet.
You can stop by the mythical patch of
Montrachet, considered with just cause as one of
the greatest white wines of the world! I don’t think
you will need reminded to kick back and enjoy a
delicious lunch and glass or two of wine before
reaching Chagny.

Dinner & overnight: Auberge du Camp Romain
Chagny
Set in the tranquil countryside between vineyards
and forests in the heart of Burgundy. The
Auberge du Camp Romain, a hotel and
restaurant offers high-quality accommodation
and delicious cuisine of repute. Offering excellent
facilities including a swimming pool, tennis-court
and billards room.
DAY 5
Cycle to Givry
Today you will start following the Voie Verte, a
peaceful cycle track following a disused railway
line which winds alongside the canal du Centre
to Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune. There you will join
the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise. Why not
dismount and take a step back in time to the
Middle Ages with a visit to the Château de
Germolles before reaching the pretty village of
Givry?

Located close to Givry, the Moulin Madame is a

century. Full of charm and situated in a wonderful
relaxed setting, with just five bed rooms all
beautifully decorated to ensure you have a
wonderful stay.
DAY 6
Cycle to Cluny
From Givry to Cluny you will enjoy varied
landscape cycling by forests and traditional
countryside houses: “cabottes” (small stone
houses). Reaching Saint Gengoux Le National a
delightful medieval town, with a rich artistic
heritage and a warm Burgundian feel. Continuing
on to your to Cluny, you will pass through
Cormatin, a village well-known for its château.
The landscape will change slightly and will
become slightly more hilly before arrival in
Cluny, which was the spiritual centre of Europe in
the Middle Ages. No visit to Cluny is complete
without a visit to the Abbey!

Dinner & overnight: Hostellerie d’Héloise
Cluny
The 2 stat Hostellerie d’Héloise is a real gem,
situated in a stately building dating from the end
of the 1800's. You will experience a warm
atmosphere and timeless charm in this simple,
family run hotel which offers comfortable rooms
and delicious gastronomy.
DAY 7
Cycle to Macon
Today's cycle will be one to remember with a
gentle day cycling quiet lanes for about 23 km
through the Val Lamartinien. Crossing the
landscape dominated by rocks Solutre
Vergisson, Mont Pouilly-classified is one of the
most beautiful natural sites in France. You will
cross the area, where the poet Lamartine has left
many memories to reach Macon.
Macon is the southern most town in the
department of Burgundy and the largest producer
of white wine in the area. Why not enjoy an
evening aperitif sitting alfresco in one of the
many pretty wine bars, reminiscing on the
journey, while sipping a chilled glass of local
white wine. A fitting end to your Burgundy Cycle!

Macon
The hotel de Bourgogne is a quiet and
comfortable 3 star hotel, located in the heart of
the city. You will experience traditional French
hospitality and warm welcome during your stay.
DAY 8
Depart
Your Burgundy cycling holiday ends in Macon,
which has excellent connections to Lyon Airport
and other destinations in France.
Additional Nights and Extensions
You can add additional nights at any point
before, during or after your tour.

Your cycling holiday in Burgundy includes 6
nights carefully selected comfortable 2 & 3 star
hotels and 1 night in a charming B&B. You have
the option to upgrade to 3 star hotels at an

This trip is available to solo cyclists although a
supplement is payable to cover the extra costs
which are not shared.
Grade
This cycle tour is graded easy to moderate. The
five cycling days vary from 25—45 km in length
(about 3 hours cycling) and include some
climbing. The route follows country roads and
bike paths.
Navigation
We arrange for our local representative to meet
you on arrival at the hotel in Dijon, you will be
supplied with a detailed route book which
includes maps and directions as well as helpful
hints such as restaurants, museums, vineyards,
and where to find a bank machine. So the route
is easily followed.
Baggage Transfer
Daily door to door baggage transfer is included in
the price of your trip. We ask you to keep your
baggage to a maximum of 1 bag per person
(maximum weight 20kg).
Rental Bikes
Bike hire is not included in the cost of your
holiday. We can arrange the rental and supply
comfortable 24 speed hybrid bicycles with a
repair kit, extra inner tube, pump, map holder
and panniers.
This tour is available to start on any day of the
week from 1st of May to 30th of October.
