Following the success in 2011 of the Prouvé RAW crossover project

between Vitra and G-Star RAW, the partnership has continued with the de-

velopment of a second limited series: the Prouvé Raw Office Edition. This

second crossover collection revives a series of furniture and

lighting originally designed by Jean Prouvé in the 1940s for the offices of

major French industrial companies.

“My father would have appreciated the new energy that this cooperation

brings to his designs. He always wanted things to look fresh and new. It ’s

wonderful to see how the collaboration between Vitra and G-Star RAW

gives a new feeling to the collection, and that individual pieces are returning

to the office – the place for which they were originally designed”, commented

Catherine Prouvé on behalf of the designer’s family.

Authenticated with a special edition label, the furniture and lighting in the

Prouvé RAW Office Edition will be available until the end of 2016.

Prouvé’s constructive logic and strict utilisation of honest industrial materials not

only corresponds to the product philosophy and brand identity of G-Star but also

shows a strong affinity to the architecture of Rem Koolhaas’s new G-Star

headquarters, built in 2014. Thus it was a consistent decision to completely furnish

the offices, conference rooms and canteens with designs created by Jean Prouvé

some 70 years ago for the interiors of several French corporations and universities.

Together with the architecture, they create a workplace that reflects the company’s

radical design approach.

Jean Prouvé (1901 – 1984)

Jean Prouvé, who always considered himself a design engineer, was also the

designer and manufacturer of his product ideas. His unique range of designs

includes letter openers, door and window fittings, lamps and furniture –

and even prefabricated houses and modular construction systems; essentially,

anything that can be designed and industrially manufactured.

Diese zweite Crossover-Kollektion lässt eine Möbel- und Leuchtenserie aufleben, die Jean Prouvé in den 1940er- Jahren für die Büros grosser französischer Industrieunternehmen geschaffen hat.“Mein Vater hätte seine Freude an der Energie gehabt, die diese Kooperation seinen Designs verleiht. Ihm war es stets wichtig, dass die Dinge in alter Frische daherkommen. Es ist wunderbar, dass die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Vitra und GStar RAW der Kollektion einen neuen Anstrich gibt und einzelne Stücke in jene Bürowelt zurückkehren, für die sie ursprünglich geschaffen wurden”, meint Catherine Prouvé im Namen der Familie des Designers. Die Möbel und Leuchten der Prouvé RAW Office Edition sind als Special Edition bis Ende 2016 erhältlich und mit dem entsprechenden Label gekennzeichnet.

NLNa het succes in 2011 van Prouvé RAW, het cross-overproject tussen Vitra en G-Star RAW, wordt de samenwerking voortgezet met het ontwerp van een tweede beperkte editie: de Prouvé Raw Office Edition. Deze tweede cross-overcollectie blaast nieuw leven in een reeks meubels en lampen die Jean Prouvé oorspronkelijk in de jaren 40 ontwierp voor de kantoren van grote Franse industriële bedrijven. “Mijn vader zou blij geweest zijn met de nieuwe energie die deze samenwerking aan zijn ontwerpen geeft. Hij wilde altijd dat alles er fris en nieuw uitzag. Het is fantastisch om te zien hoe de samenwerking tussen Vitra en G-Star RAW de collectie een nieuwe impuls verleent, en dat individuele stukken terugkeren naar een kantooromgeving – waarvoor ze oorspronkelijk ontworpen zijn,” verklaarde Catherine Prouvé in naam van de familie van de ontwerper. De meubels en lampen van de Prouvé RAW Office Edition zijn gewaarmerkt met een ‘special edition’-label en blijven verkrijgbaar tot eind 2016.

Il est merveilleux de voir comment la collaboration entre Vitra et G-Star RAW confère un nouvel esprit à la collection, et que certaines pièces sont de retour au bureau - le lieu pour lequel ils ont été conçus à l’origine », déclare Catherine Prouvé au nom de la famille du créateur. Certifiés par le label de cette édition spéciale, les meubles et luminaires de la Prouvé RAW Office Edition seront en vente jusqu’à la fin 2016.

Esta segunda colección recupera nuevos muebles y elementos de iluminación diseñados por Jean Prouvé en los años cuarenta para las oficinas de grandes empresas industriales francesas.«A mi padre le habría gustado la nueva energía que esta colaboración está aportando a sus diseños. Siempre quería que las cosas tuvieran un aspecto nuevo y moderno. Es maravilloso ver que la colaboración entre Vitra y G-Star RAW imprime un nuevo carácter a la colección y que algunas de sus piezas vuelven a la oficina, el lugar para el que fueron diseñadas originalmente», ha comentado Catherine Prouvé en nombre de la familia del diseñador. Tanto los muebles como los elementos de iluminación de esta colección estarán disponibles hasta finales de 2016; cada pieza está autentificada mediante una etiqueta que indica su pertenencia a una edición especial.

DEProuvés konstruktive Logik und die strenge Nutzung ehrlicher, industrieller Materialien entsprechen nicht nur der Produktphilosophie und Markenidentität von G-Star, sie passen auch zur Architektur des neuen, vom Architekten Rem Koolhaas gebauten Hauptsitzes des Modelabels. So war die Entscheidung nur konsequent, alle Büros, Konferenzräume und Kantinen des Gebäudes komplett mit Entwürfen einzurichten, die Jean Prouve vor etwa 70 Jahren für verschiedene französische Unternehmen und Universitäten entworfen hat. Im Verbund mit der Architektur schaffen sie ein Arbeitsumfeld, das den radikalen Design-Ansatz des Unternehmens widerspiegelt.

NLNiet alleen komen de constructielogica van Prouvé en zijn strikte gebruik van eerlijke industriële materialen overeen met de productfilosofie en merkidentiteit van G-Star, ze passen ook zeer goed bij de architectuur van het door Rem Koolhaas ontworpen en in 2014 gebouwde nieuwe hoofdkantoor van G-Star. Het was dan ook een logisch besluit om de kantoren, vergaderruimten en kantines volledig in te richten met designs die Prouvé zo’n 70 jaar geleden ontwierp voor de interieurs van verschillende Franse bedrijven en universiteiten. In combinatie met de architectuur creëren ze een werkplek die de radicale designfilosofie van het bedrijf weerspiegelt.

FRSi la logique constructive qui marque l’oeuvre de Prouvé et l’utilisation stricte de matériaux industriels honnêtes correspondent à la philosophie des produits et à l’identité de la marque G-Star, elles s’appliquent également à l’architecture du nouveau siège de la maison de mode conçu en 2014 par l’architecte Rem Koolhaas. Il semblait donc cohérent d’aménager l’ensemble des bureaux, des salles de conférence et des cantines du bâtiment à l’aide d’oeuvres de Jean Prouvé, créées il y a près de 70 ans pour des entreprises et des universités françaises. Alliées à l’architecture, elles créent un environnement de travail qui reflète parfaitement l’approche radicale du design de cette entreprise.

ESLa lógica constructiva de Prouvé y su estricta utilización de materiales industriales no solo corresponden a la filosofía del producto y a la identidad de marca de G-Star sino que también muestran una fuerte afinidad con la arquitectura de su nueva sede, diseñada por Rem Koolhaas y construida en 2014. Por ello amueblar sus oficinas, salas de conferencias y cafeterías con diseños creados por Jean Prouvé hace 70 años para el interior de diferentes compañías y universidades francesas fue una decisión absolutamente coherente. Junto con la arquitectura crearon un lugar de trabajo que refleja la radical filosofía de diseño de la empresa.

ITLa logica costruttiva di Prouvé e il suo sfruttamento rigoroso di materiali industriali onesti non solo corrisponde alla filosofia del prodotto e all’identità del marchio di G-Star ma evidenzia anche una forte affinità con l’architettura della nuova sede centrale di G-Star, realizzata nel 2014 da Rem Koolhaas. È stata perciò una decisione coerente quella di arredare gli uffici, le sale conferenze e le sale mensa con progetti realizzati da Jean Prouvé circa 70 anni fa per i locali di numerose aziende e università francesi. Insieme all’architettura, creano un luogo di lavoro che riflette il radicale approccio dell’azienda al design.

DEJean Prouvé, der sich zeitlebens als Konstrukteur begriff, war gleichzeitig Designer und Produzent seiner Entwürfe. Sein einzigartiges Werk umfasst vom Brieföffner über Tür- und Fensterbeschläge, Leuchten und Möbel bis hin zu Fertighäusern und modularen Bausystemen fast alles, was sich konstruieren und industriell fertigen lässt.

NLJean Prouvé die tijdens zijn leven bekend was als constructeur, was tegelijk ontwerper en producent van zijn ontwerpen. Zijn unieke oeuvre gaat van een briefopener tot deur- en vensterbeslagen, verlichting en meubelen en prefabwoningen, kortom bijna alles wat gebouwd en industrieel vervaardigd kan worden.

FRJean Prouvé qui se considéra toute sa vie durant comme un constructeur, fut également le designer et le fabricant de ses créations. Son oeuvre unique englobe presque tout ce qui peut être construit et fabriqué industriellement, du coupepapier aux ferrures de portes et de fenêtres, en passant par les luminaires, meubles, maisons préfabriquées et systèmes de construction modulaire.

ESJean Prouvé se consideró toda su vida como un constructor, pero también fue diseñador y productor de sus diseños. Su original obra incluye casi todo lo que se pudiera construir y fabricar de forma industrial, desde abrecartas hasta herrajes de puertas y ventanas, además de lámparas, muebles, casas prefabricadas y sistemas de construcción modulares.

ITJean Prouvé, da sempre consideratosi come un ingegnere del design, è stato anche designer e realizzatore di prodotti di propria ideazione.
