From the Director…

I cannot take the credit for choosing this play to start off our year. That pat on the back goes to two very talented ladies, Ms. Di Wills and Ms. Bex Hutchins. Also, I cannot take the credit for the performance you are about to surely enjoy. It took many dedicated people to bring you the final product. Proof being in the size of the 'Behind the Scenes' team listed in the programme. My job was made so much easier by many people stepping up offering their help and advice as and when I needed it. As for me directing the five wonderful actors that are about to take you on a funny and hopefully memorable journey; all I can say is; the pleasure was all mine. They all worked very hard at being funny but also very real characters. Finally, I wish to thank Barb Fresta for being my Assistant to the Director. She took on the lion’s share of the organisational tasks that left me free to concentrate on the artistic side of directing the faithful, hard-working cast and crew. Please sit back now and enjoy. Thank you for your support.

DOT HAIGLER, retired school teacher - Lyn Greer

I have been a member of BPI for 54 years and am now a life member. I have truly enjoyed performing in musicals, dramas and comedies. It is great to be back on stage as 'Dot' and to be involved with such a talented and fun cast and crew.

RANDA COVINGTON, architect - Penny Green

I’ve returned to the Playhouse Theatre stage after a long break, my last show being Stepping Out in 1999 where I played the eccentric, Maxine. I’m excited to be playing Randa in The Savannah Sipping Society, it’s a show that I can relate to. “All the problems of the world can be resolved over a glass of liquid refreshment with friends.”

A joyful, touching comedy about four unique Southern women, all needing to

escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, who are drawn together by fate and an impromptu happy hour. They decide it’s high time to reclaim the

enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years. Over the course of six months filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures and the occasional liquid

refreshment, these middle-aged women bond and find the confidence they

need to jumpstart their new lives. Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment and, most importantly,

realize it’s never too late to make new old friends.

ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR

MARLAFAYE MOSLEY, liquor Rep - Trish Mears

I love being part of the Playhouse “family”, performing in Moon Over Buffalo, The Importance of Being Ernest, The Odd Couple (female version) and The Drowsy Chaperone. “Marlafaye Mosley is a dream role, a Sassy Texan who calls a spade a shovel”. It’s a privilege to work with such a talented team of actors and crew. I’ve always admired Phil’s work as an actor and to have him direct us with such insight and enthusiasm is a real treat.

JINX JENKINS, beauty therapist & life coach

- Alison Esposito

This is my very first production at the Playhouse and I’m super excited to be playing the role of Jinx Jenkins. She is sassy, spontaneous and a lot of fun! Getting involved in this production is a wonderful opportunity for me to have some fun while challenging myself to do something I’ve always wanted to do. The Savannah Sipping Society is a wonderful story that I can relate to, laugh at and the characters are just superb!

GRANDMOTHER COVINGTON, Order of The Eastern Star

- Mary Dudman It has been a privilege to work with such a wonderful group of people. Having started with Bundaberg Players 20 years ago, tapping away in Stepping Out, to being the oldest Baby Bear known in Goldilocks in 2015. I’ve loved the Players, especially the friendship, just like in this fabulous play.
