In elementary and middle schools, 30.5% of all bullying is physical.

• Verbal bullying is name-calling, making offensive remarks, or joking about a person's religion, gender, or the way they look. 46.5% of all bullying in schools is the verbal type. Verbal aggression is when a bully teases someone. It can also include a bully making verbal threats of violence or aggression against someone's personal property.

• Intimidation is when a bully threatens someone else and frightens that person enough to make him or her do what the bully wants.

• Social alienation is when a bully excludes someone from a group on purpose. It also includes a bully spreading rumors, and also making fun of someone by pointing out their differences

Cyber bullyingis done by sending messages, pictures, or information using any electronic devises , (computers email & instant messages), or cell phones (text messaging & voicemail).

For instance, sending inappropriate pictures or thing to another person.

According to a survey done in 2003 only 4% of bullying is listed as "other types"

and this would include cyber bullying. Even though this number seems small,

the growth of this type of bullying is going up fast because of the spread of

technology around the world.

My father was bullied though out Jr. High and High School. You know how

on TV. You see kids get shoved in lockers and put in garbage cans? Well that really

happened to my Dad. He was the nerd that got wedges every day and had

barley had any friends. The worst thing was, Nobody really cared no one helped him and no one told an adult. He didn’t

even want to tell his Mom. “Being bullied was the thing that made me want to stay

home from school.” my dad said. (But I guess our last name didn’t help him

much. ‘Hooker’)But know he is living a happy life and the

guys who bullied Him are either asking for jobs or already work for him.

So don’t be a bully .

Page 10: Bullying and Harassment
