    REVIEW OF CHHENAI EXPRESS

    (Letters to the Editor)

    (I)

    Hi Atul,

I wish to refute the review of the movie Chennai Express. In noway was it as derogatory or as bad as it was made out to be.

Can she tell me that a movie that has made more than 200crores at the box office be as bad as claimed by Ms Lugani? Ienjoyed the movie as thoroughly as the spirit it was made in. Iagree that it borders on stupidity sometimes but at the end of theday it is meant for enjoyment of the masses and let me statethat the crowd was lapping it up. At the end of the day we go tothe movies to escape from routine. There are many movies weenjoy for the content but surely there are different times fordifferent moods.

As to the points made by her:

    1. The movie does not end in15 minutes for the precisereason it was made it is a movie! Not a documentary.

    2. I never noticed the faces!3. You have to let the story writer decide the story!4. Why the objection to SRK being a halwai?5. Why do you want to see SRK repeating his old roles?

I think it was refreshing to see him like this. It brings out hisversatility as an actor? Only he could make the role feel soeffective!

Sorry if I came out too strong ....but I was amazed to read thereview as probably she will be reading mine!

    Regards,

    Pam

    Dear Atul,

Great that a lively contra view has emerged..... We can surelyagree to disagree... Also success @ the box office does notvindicate the content or soul of a film ..... Also as an ardent SRKfan it pains many of us that there are so manycareer possibilities which the star is closing that too at a stage inhis career when he could be experimental for the greater goodof his huge fan following who imitate his moves.

365 days down Chennai Express like Himmatwala of yester-years will be forgotten but Swades, 3 Idiots, will beremembered.

    Yours,

    Nutan
