ABOUT AGEN Agen is main city (prefecture) of Lot-et-Garonne departmant in Southeast France, size of some 55.000 inhabitants in metro area of the city and 120.000 in arrondissment. Agen is historical city with rich history dated before Viking era as it was main city of huge region, with beautiful buildings and huge tourist attractions (several team parks), tasty food and perfect wine. During Roman time name of the city was Aginnum, and on Celtic root it means “rock or height”. During Gaul period Agen (Aginnum) was capital of Nitiobroges County, in 4

th century known as Civitas Agennensium.

After Cesar concord Gallia, city was capital of Agenais province. From 833 till 848 city was occupied by Vikings. After that Agen made a fort, and first count of it was Wulgrin I of Angouleme. In 13

th century there

were fights for possession of Agen between England and France. At

1259 by Treaty of Paris, Louis IX of France agreed to pay an annual rent to Henry III of England for possession of Agenais. But in 1279 England crown took Agen as their possession again. During the Hundred Years' War between the English and the French, Agenais was frequently taken and retaken, the final retreat of the English in 1453 at last leaving the king of France in peaceable possession. Famous Canal de Garonne passes throw Agan. Canal connects Mediterranean sea and Atlantic ocean and is 193 km long. It is shortest way to Atlantic ocean which bypass Gibraltar. It has 53 locks, with a total difference in level of 128 meters. The canal runs along the right bank of the Garonne, crosses the river in Agen via the Agen aqueduct, one of the spectacular architectural achievements of 19

th century. It was build from

1839 till 1849. Aqueduct was designed that boats can pass by it over Gerone river on some 10 meters high. It is 539 meters long and 12,5 meters width. The old centre of town contains a number of medieval buildings. The twelfth century Agen Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Caprasius, is one of the few large churches in France with a double nave. Cathedral is part of UNESCO world heritage. The Saint Hilaire church, dedicated to the theme of the Holy Trinity, defender of Agen is one of the nicest in city. The Fine Arts museum, Musée des Beaux Arts contains artefacts, furniture and sculptures from prehistoric times onwards. The art gallery contains several hundred works, including several by Goya, and others by Bonnard and Seurat.

Biggest industry in city is pharmaceutical factory UPSA. Around Agen are two famous team parks, Walibi Sud-Ouest and Agen Aquapark. Vilascopia is complex of building that shows way of leaving in Roman time (4

th century). Agen

is connected by TGV (ultrafast railway) to Bordeaux, Toulouse and Perigueux. Highway A62 from Toulouse to Bordeaux pass throw Agen. Agen has airport with connection to Paris. Main agriculture production is plum, and city is called “World prune capital”. In city there is distillery of plum liqueur Armagnica. City has big commercial and shoping zone with big Expo fair coplex.

Most famous festival in Agan is Plum festival, at end of August, and this year European majorettes’ championship will be part of it. City organizes film festival every year. There are two theatres in city. Bigger ofne Theatre Ducourneau, presents theatre and classical concerts. Smaller Theatre du jour has a residetn theatre company presenting a variety of recent or older plays like Shakespeare and Backett. There are two cinemas in city. Rugby is extremely popular in the town, and the local team dated from 1908, SU Agen, is enthusiastically supported. They were French champions for 8 timed (first one 1930, last time 1988), and were in finals of European Challenge Cup. They won several other titles and cups. capacity of rugby stadium is 14.000 spectators.

The town also serves as the base for the Team Lot-et-Garonne cycling team. In Agen there is sport center, complex of indoor swimming pools, rowing track, golf course and sport hall with capacity of 2.000. Nostradamus, a famous prophet, doctor and mystic, lived in Agen from 1531 till 1534. He was married to a local woman with whom he had two children.

Saturday 31.8. from 7:30-7:45 Teams who will not make registration in that time risks that it will not participate in EMC.

IMPORTANT WARNING!!!! There will be no registration in other time! Teams must plan to come to Arena earlier, because EMA will not make registrations for those who will come late. If team will come late EMA will try to make registration, but we cannot guarantee. This out of timing registration costs extra 20 EUR per team, and will be done in time that is possible, not in time of coming of the team. Participants must know that it is their most important responsibility to come to registration on time! EMA has a lot of obligations in EMC and cannot wait all day for those who come late. Participants must calculate bad roads, possibility of accident, borders, bad weather etc, and come much earlier than time of registration. So, vis major is not excuse for delay.

OFFICIAL TRAININGS Official trainings (for free) are organized on Thursday 29

th August.

Please check in timing at what time you can have official training and for how long. Nonformation and formation (for stage and for parade march) have 4 minute per team for official training on Thursday. There will be no official training on other day exempt Thursday. Teams that want extra trainings on stage or parade march can pay 25 EUR for 30 minutes. You can reserve your practice time during accreditation. Participant who comes first will have possibility to choose first. There is no possibility to change your practice time later.

IMPORTANT WARNING!!!! Participants who will not come to Arena on their timing will lose possibility for official

practice, and will not have chance to make practice later. Participants who will try to make their practice longer than maximum time will be forced to stop by security. This interruption will be forced immediately and drastically! We have to do that to secure other teams their practice time, and if just one troop will practice more than it was planed that means that last troop will not have chance to practice. Because of that we will do it drastically and immediately!!! If team comes to accreditation late there is high possibility that there would not be any free time for official practice. So, to be sure, come to early accreditation (at 9:00 hours). If you come late and those who come first reserve all possible terms EMA does not have responsibility and possibility to find official practice for you.

FEE and TICKETS

Teams must pay fee of 8 EUR per majorette for participation in European Championship, 20 EUR per solo, 40 EUR per duo and 60 EUR per trio. TEAM THAT PARTICIPATE IN TWO CATEGORIES OF SAME AGE CLASS (for example baton seniors and mace seniors) PAYS 1

ST CATEGORY 100%, BUT 2

ND CATEGORY JUST 50%.

There will be NO TICKET FOR SPECTATORS! Entrance will be free.

FROM THIS YEAR MUSIC IS ON USB - ADVICES Team can perform on play back music, which must be stored on very good quality USB, with at least one USB backup + CD backup. Please bring also at least one copy of CD. To prevent negative points because problems in reproduction of music from USB (CD) here are some advices that you have to obey: 1. You should have at least 2 copies of USB. Master copy do not use in training. Backup copy is just reserve in case of problems or

damaging master copy. Do not use MP3 format on USB. 2. You should have at least 2 copies of CD as backup with same music as in USB. 3. Format on CD must be in audio format (.cda) not in MP3 or some other formats. 4. Burn your CD on minimum speed (not more than 4x). As faster speed you use there is bigger chance to have problem with

reproduction (faster speed of burning = bigger chance for problems) 5. Use the best quality USB and CD. As cheaper USB or CD there is bigger chance for problems and bigger risk. 6. Do not put your USB and CD into sun, cold, water, magnetic or electric influence, mechanic damaging. Do not carry your CD out of

plastic boxes. 7. Taste all of your copies of USB’s and CD’s in different players and be sure they are working properly. 8. Do not burn more categories in one USB or CD. Use as many USBs and CDs as you have categories.

OBLIGATORY BUS PARKING Expo parking zone - competition and accreditation

Opening ceremony: exit bus Bulevard du President Carnot > Parking in Expo > entrance Cours Gambetta

All buses must be parked in and only in dedicated parking inside Expo for security reasons. Expo also has public car parking zone very near Expo. Police will force this rule.

For opening ceremony participants must exit bus (at 18:15) in corner of Bulevard du President Carnot and Avenue

de République, than urgently proceed to parking inside Expo, and that bus will come to pick up participants in

Cours Gambetta near Rue Palissy at 20:15. It is forbidden to park bus in city!

BRING A SYMBOLIC PRESENT FOR MAYOR meeting point: Musée Ducouneau, Place Dr Esquirol at 17:45

Free BUS for representatives will leave Expo bus parking at 17:15!

As every team will get present from Mayor it is polite that teams also give back some typical present from the area the

team is coming from. Present can be some typical souvenir or bottle of wine or something like that. Representative of the team will present this present to the Mayor during the reception. In each delegation can be one majorette from each age category from one team + one head of team (for example one cadet, one junior, one senior majorette and trainer of team). Maximum number of participants in mayor audience for teams that perform in every category is 4 (less for those which don’t have some categories). Participants who perform in nonformation can also participate in audience.

OPENING CEREMONY meeting point: Bulevard du President Carnot and Avenue de République

Participants are obligated to come to corner of Bulevard du President Carnot and Avenue de République before18:30 on Friday 30

th August. There you have to find you national flag and come to it. Teams who will not do that will suffer

sanctions.

SECURITY WARNING AND INSURANCE

Adult Child Ratios. EMA believes that to enable supervision to be effective we will need to advertise a ratio of 1 adult to 5 children. By supervision we presume that adult have to be with child all the time, and not only by formal number of adults.

Property treatment. Please treat the property, facilities and accommodation with respect and care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. In the event that you notice damage to any facility or in your accommodation please report in to welcome desk (information) immediately so that we can take appropriate action. Accommodation will be inspected at the end of championship and you may be charged for any loss or damage found. EMA reserves the right to enter accommodation under any special circumstances or emergencies.

PENALIZATION OF INCIDENTS DURING EC. For safety of all majorettes, audience and all other participants of the EMC we find ourselves entitled to, without any warning or consequences remove any person, even a competitor, from the Championship as well as

from any of the places the Championship is taking place on. If therefore some team shall not be able to perform, it is the problem of the competitors, and it will not influence the decision of the organizer. Any kind of rude, immoral and unsportsmanlike behavior displayed by any person with accreditation, minor or not, will not be at all tolerated. It is strictly forbidden for all persons with accreditations (competitors, trainers and noncompetitors) to comment, insult or attack anybody inside the arena or any other competition zone (A, B, C or D). Serious offenders will be taken away by the police, and there will be criminal charges brought against them.

INSURANCE. All persons with accreditations and all those who participate in EMC have to arrange insurance (health, injury, damage, accident) for themselves by themselves, because EMA and organizers will not accept responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or accident, and will not make any amends. EMA and the organizers did all that was in their power to maximize prevention and reaction to any

damage (health care and emergency service at the arena, security service…), but the health insurance and insurance in foreign countries has to be arranged by every team for their members. This regulation is considered as a legal regulation that is accepted by every participant at the accreditation. You should take care of medical treatment of your girls. In arena we will not secure medical care exempt of first aid in case of medical trauma. You should have your own medical staff with you. In Agen there is hospital and ambulance (first aid) but it will come on call. Please be sure that all your participants have European Health Insurance Card with them if not they can be charge for medical services. If your participants are not from European Union you should take care of Medical Insurance for France or you will be charge for medical service even by First Aid.

IN CASE OF RAIN All competition is in Expo. In case of rain opening ceremony will be in Expo.

CAMERA OR PHOTO ACCREDITATIONS

Photo equipment is for free if you take if from spectators’ area. If you want to take photo from F-press tribune you have to take F-press accreditation for which you have to pay same amount like you use video-camera. Use of video-camera is not allowed without F-press accreditation even in spectators’ area. If you want to film EMC with video-camera you can pay for F-press accreditation 25 EUR for 3 days. With this accreditation you have right to film from F-press tribune with journalist and photo-reporters) or you can film from spectator’s area. If you want to film EMC with video-camera or photo just 2 meters from competitors (E-press on arena) you have to pay 200 EUR for 3 days. In this area you have special rules and you have to wear bips all time. If you violate these rules you will be asked to leave arena and there will be no pay-back of the fee. To get press accreditation (without paying) you must have valid and official Press Identity Card from your country or unified one in European Union. For all those press and photo accreditation you have to ask in accreditation on EMA desk!

ARENA There can be variations on arena from this plan but not big ones.
