OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE In preparation for the World Meeting of Families taking place in September, our parish has invited families to pray through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the renewal of vibrant faith in all families. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Americas and her care for all families is filled with blessing. The response has been wonderful. Each week through September 26, 2015, a family will pray the Rosary daily in the presence of the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe at home. The statue, which our parish provides, will be picked up at the Vigil or any Sunday Mass in the Sacristy. It is to be returned BEFORE the next Saturday Vigil. (If the Sacristy is locked, it may be placed in the Religious Goods store on the counter.) In this way, an unbroken chain of prayer from family to family can be established to help fulfill the purpose of the World Meeting of Families. Though all slots have been taken, we ask all families to pray the Rosary at home. Our Intention will be to pray with Mary to God for the Holy Father Pope Francis, for the protection of families, for marriage, for the sanctity of all human life and for religious freedom. This devotion, besides preparing for the graces that come with a Papal visit, has the hopeful intention of a profound strengthening of gracious love in all families. We thank all the families who have signed up and know that they will be blessed through this devotion.

PARISH MARIAN CELEBRATION SUNDAY, MAY 10, 2015 FOLLOWING THE 10:30 MASS

Our May Procession this year will occur at the end of our 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday May 10, 2015. The closing hymn will be a Marian hymn as the Knights of Columbus and our First Communicants lead the procession from Mass to the statue of Mary outside the church. We will then crown Mary and pray a decade of the Rosary (5th decade of the Glorious Mysteries—Mary is Crowned Queen of Heaven.) Let us remember the powerful intercession of Mary, our Mother, especially during the month of May.

MOTHER’S DAY SPIRITUAL BOUQUET

All mothers’ names submitted will be placed on the altar on Mother’s Day and will be remembered in the Masses offered in our church through the month of May.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES

Are you planning on going

to the Papal Mass? We are trying to determine if we should attempt to book a bus to attend the Papal Mass. While speaking to the Transportation Coordinator from the World Meeting of Families, he wanted us to be fully aware of the challenges of attending an international event of these proportions.

• We will leave early Sunday morning for a 3:00 PM Mass.

• Be prepared to walk and stand most of the day. • The buses will only be allowed to park and drop off approximately 5 miles from where the Mass will be celebrated. People then will take subways into Center City • Only clear bags will be allowed in the area where Mass is being celebrated. The Transportation Coordinator suggested that the trains are the best form of transportation into the city that day. With all that being said, if you are interested in taking a bus from St. Maximilian Kolbe Church please fill out the form below or call the rectory with your name, phone number and number of family members attending. If enough people are interested we will attempt to book a bus for that day. Cost per person will be determined once a bus is booked. ********************************************

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED TO SUPPORT CATHOLIC SCHOOLS THROUGH EITC

On Friday, April 17th, The Philadelphia

Inquirer published an Op-Ed by Archbishop Chaput, "Two Programs Help Students Most in Need," which focused on the importance of state legislation that would increase funding to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credits and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credits. As the Archbishop notes, "These successful tax-credit programs fund scholarship organizations that enable tens of thousands of students, including those who are most needy, to attend good schools of their choice. Catholic and other nongovernment schools benefit greatly from these programs - but only indirectly, and only because parents and students freely choose them because of their quality."
