The Rotary Foundation provided $481,000 of that money. World wide during this same period some 311 Global Grants have been allocated with over $US182.2 million provided to support the work of Rotary GUEST SPEAKER TODAY: - John Yates
Topic: The Christmas Message
John, a retired Anglican Minister who lives in Redcliffe is always ready to help anyone in need.
He believes the Christmas message has been lost on this generation. The real message of Christmas has been stripped away by too many groups of people who have their own interests to fill.
Quality relationships cannot be bought; they are irreplaceable. Just like our relationships with the people we have been helping and supporting the Christian message about the love of God who came to help us is also about building quality relationships.
John told us a little of his own story and how he converted to Christianity. He was a student, doing well at university and studying science when he became deeply depressed. He was given a book to read which was about the coming of Jesus. He had an inner belief that someone loved in, and in a costly way was supporting him. It made him realise his desire to help people in need.
He reminded us of something that Malcolm Fraser said “Life wasn’t meant to be easy . . . but it can be beautiful. Also in the Old Testament a verse: “God makes everything beautiful . . . in its own time.”
John finished by urging us to keep doing the great work we are doing.

FRED RAE FOUNDATION
Fred and Norma Rae have kindly donated some funds for us to use to provide support for local worthy
causes. The final scope of the Foundation is being mapped out and we will be able to release details
shortly.
Any worthy local cause must meet certain criteria – including that they must either live or work in
Belmont; and have Deductable Gift Recipient status.
2017 – AGFR – here in Perth
Our next big event is the Australian Fellowship of
Golfing Rotarians – to be held in April 2017.
Our aim is to raise sufficient funds to send an
Interplast team overseas. Their cost: $45,000.

more dollars to go.
