TONIGHT’S DINNER AT THE CLUB ** H A M B U R G E R S **
A message from the Executive Committee:
The mighty Bulleen Templestowe District Junior Football Club is almost at the end of Season 2015. It has been a very successful year on the field with well over 250 registered players from Under 8 through to our senior Boys Colts and Youth Girls teams, in addition to around 100 young and aspiring Auskick members and for 2015 we have many of our teams making finals. The success of our club has been built on years of development and contributions from many volunteers who not only help coach and manage the teams but also perform the many tasks that keep a club going. We have a committee that changes each year as new families come into the club and other families move on as their children grow up. We need new blood in the committee for 2016 and we welcome anyone interested to come along and join us at our monthly meetings. New faces bring new ideas and we always welcome debate on improving facets of the club’s operation. Meetings are held at the club rooms at Ted Ajani on the first Wednesday of each month starting at 7.30pm. Most importantly the Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 7th October and we invite all interested parties to attend to help create a new and vibrant committee for 2016. We wish all teams competing in finals the best of luck and remember when it’s all said and done...it’s kids footy! Once again we thank you, all families, members and supporters of the Bullants in 2015.

Our cover this week. The 15 faces of dedication to your kids right here!
We salute our Coaches of 2015 and thank them for their time, dedication and passion bringing the best out of our players each and every week. Some have finished for the season and some will fight on.
Fixture correct at time of printing. Always check with your team manager
tovic was rock solid in defence, taking intercept marks and repel-ling the Dockers' attacks. Xavier Aldous was instrumental in the midfield getting the ball for-ward. Daniel Newton was the dominant forward, winning the ball several times and getting our only goal of the quarter. He marked strongly, then played on, took on his defender and kicked truly.
The second quarter was another cracker, both teams scoring 3 goals each. Billy McKenzie got us off to a great start by winning the ball and kicking a great goal that bounced the right way through the big sticks. Mac Dwyer was an absolute star in the midfield. His second and third efforts were bril-liant as he was able to get the ball from the contests. Lucas Leggio was great, with some telling kicks into the forward zone and the oc-casional blind turn to get past his opponent. In defence, Sonny McKenzie beat his opponent tak-ing intercept marks and getting the ball out of our defensive zone. We went into half time 3 points down, but you could see in the boys' eyes they had another super half of footy left in them. They did not disappoint.
In the third quarter, we had Ben-jamin Bratovic in our forward line. His marking presence, quick play on and long kicking were vital to us taking the lead. He scored his first goal after winning the ball in the pocket, and then slamming the ball through the goals, at about chest height. No defender touched the ball, but the ball cer-tainly made contact with the goal umpire as it thudded into Andy Aldous' stomach! The Lenny All-
sop - Lachlan Gilligan synergy was on display again in the backline. It is amazing watching these 2 boys play, as one of them gets the ball, the other instinctively runs to the position where the other will kick to. Simply put, it is poetry in mo-tion. Patrick Parnell was inspira-tional in the midfield, running through the lines and getting the ball forward. The quarter ended with a mark to Benjamin, then, after the siren he kicked his sec-ond goal of the quarter.
In the final term, we piled on the pressure. Benjamin totally domi-nated the ruck, getting the ball out to the runners, Xavier Aldous and Sonny McKenzie who kicked the ball into our forward zone. If the ball came out, Liam Hodges was there, solid as a rock, taking some great marks and getting the ball back in. Lucas Leggio weaved his way through a couple of de-fenders to kick the first goal of the last quarter. Daniel Newton was great in defence. Towards the end of the quarter, Lenny Allsop marked strongly, passed to the other half of the synergy, Lachlan Gilligan, who marked, and goaled to ice the game for the Bul-lants. When the final siren went, we were 3 goals to the good. What a game. What a way to finish off a great season. Thank you to all of the parents for their continuing support throughout the season, and most importantly, thank you to the boys for playing the game we love in the right spir-it, and most importantly getting involved and having fun. Bring on the Under 9's!!!
GO BULLANTS!
Cheers, Matt
Our last game of the year was away at Templestowe Reserve against the Dockers. In our en-counter earlier in the season, they gave our boys a football lesson in contested ball and possession footy. This time, we were ready for the challenge ahead. Since that game in June, and all throughout the season, the boys have trained with purpose, work-ing on their kicking, marking, handballing and winning the con-tested ball. We had our normal 11 starters, Templestowe had 13, so we had one of theirs to make it 12 on 12. In the rooms before the game, I asked all of the boys to talk about their best memory of the season. They spoke about kicking their first goal, taking great marks and playing footy with their mates. I told them to treat this game as our Grand Final, and that this was an opportunity to make new memories. That they did, and what followed was probably the greatest Under 8's game we have witnessed this season.
From the opening bounce, we knew this was going to be an epic contest. Both teams showed great skill to win the ball in the muddy conditions and get the ball to their forwards. Benjamin Bra-

blast home his first goal for the Gold. I understand the cele-brations are still going on.
It was goal for goal in the first half and the bots really dug deep to get to the loose ball in the second half. This paid off as we pulled away, spreading the ball well and making effi-cient use of the ball in front of goal.
Some great running from Cap-tain Michael along with Luke W, Luke M and Archie. A great overhead mark from Harry G in defence with tremendous sup-port from Harry W, Cruz, Sid and Lucas.
A big thanks to everyone who helped out throughout the year and well done to the boys on a very successful first year in footy!
Go Bullants!
The boys saved their best game to the end. We played against Park Orchards and everyone agreed it was a great contest.
Everyone in the team scored a goal and the last play of the game resulted in the best goal of the day. A free kick from Harry G in the middle sent the ball deep into midfield for Sid to mark.
Sid then provided a quick hand-ball to Charlie who caught the express train to the square to

every contest was relentless. When an Ashburton player was in possession they found them-selves being tackled by 2 or 3 Bullants players. When the Bullants were in possession, hard running ball movement into our forward line soon re-sulted in goals to Boris Walsh and Daniel Martino, and a first ever goal to Songphon – well done Yor. At the main break we had managed to kick away to a handy lead 19-6.
With the visitors kicking to the scoring end in the third quar-ter, the Bullants defence held strong as Ashburton continued to threaten. Anthony was influ-ential whether in the ruck or at full back. Riley and Phillip chip-ping in to help out in the ruck, often provided first use of the ball to our speedy and clever on ballers. By three quarter time, Ashburton had pegged the deficit back by 3 points 25- 15.
With the game up for grabs in the last quarter, the boys lifted the intensity to another level. Christian laid a strong tackle in the forward line to force a turnover resulting in a goal. Aaron, Ben, James, Thomas, Blake, Andy & co continued to run hard to receive handballs, and create space. Peter, Harry, Diesel were playing the defen-sive forward roles to perfec-tion, keeping the ball locked in our forward 50. James Danny, Zac and Hamish mopped up across the backline when Ash-
burton did threaten. A great team effort to finish the game off strongly, pushing out for a 25 point win, over a strong op-ponent.
Second spot on the ladder re-sults, and a chance to have a good crack at the finals. Well deserved boys!
Special thanks to Jade Rawlings for his discussion with the boys at training during the week. Jade who shared his insights into what it takes to be a valua-ble member of a football team, whether it be at Under 11’s or AFL level - dedication, team work and willingness to listen and learn. Followed by some interactive Q&A. Thanks Jade.

The stage was set for our final home and away match for Sea-son 2015. The third placed Bul-lants up against second placed Ashburton Redbacks. Up for grabs to the winner – 2nd place on the ladder going into finals. And with one win apiece from the two previous meetings ear-lier in the season, it was sure to be a great contest.
This time around we had the home ground advantage, at Ted Ajani Reserve. Captain for the day was Anthony Bous-sounis.
Kicking with the slight wind ad-vantage in the first quarter, Ashburton posted the only goal for the term. The Bullants ap-peared to have their share of the play, with great commit-ment being shown all over the ground, none more so than Ethans effort to spoil a mark on the wing, bounce to his feet again to win the loose ball, break two would be tacklers and pump the ball long into the forward line.
The hard work and great team play continued into the second term. The pressure at each and

three first quarter goals and kept Park Orchards scoreless. We maintained our intensity for most of the match and ran out comfortable 6 goal win-ners. Finn was back to his best form in the ruck and was supported by a very strong mid-field. The half back line continues to be a tower of strength and again were instrumental in our win. George who has been doing a great job at full back was switched to the forward line and kicked a couple of nice goals. Mitch also kicked a fan-tastic goal as did James Issa. Joel Pappa also kicked 2 nice goals. Dean Mav and Dean Pappa were live wires around the packs and also provide plenty of run. Leo continues to burrow into the packs and Luke Lica is also showing terrific strength in contested situations.
It is a great thrill for the boys to be playing finals and we look forward to a hard fought game against Beverley Hills.
We played Park Orchards at Ted Ajani in an early morning match. The boys always really enjoy playing at this ground. Assured of a finals spot, this was an important warm up game. Park Orchards came out with plenty of aggression and run which was a good test for us. The boys responded well and were prepared to attack the ball and also tackle hard. We got off to a good start kicking

the season, this would be the perfect test for us.
The first quarter was a real slog with both teams not kicking a goal. We did have a couple chances so we were still very happy at quarter time.
If we could just finish a little better the goals would come.
In the second quarter we start-ed to get our running game go-ing and we finally kicked our first goal through Lachlan.
This was the start of a four goal quarter that set up the game for us. At half time we lead by 20 odd points but it was still an arm wrestle just what we need-ed for next week.
The second half was about getting some game time into a few boys so we would be primed for next week. We achieved this and ran out with a three goal win. It was a great way to finish the home and away season. We now look for-ward to the finals. Go Bul-lants!!!!!!!

Today we played away against Hawthorn Citizens at Victoria Road it was a 3 pm game. As results had already gone our way we knew that we could not slip from second place but it was very important to finish on a high going into finals.
Our two captains for the day were Gianni King and Dylan El-liott and again you boys did a great job well done.
I wanted the players today too all lead from the front, to take ownership of their position.
We knew Hawthorn Citizens would come out firing as this would be there last game of

ball and repelling opposition forward plays. Toby, once again, very consistent and reli-able. Josh Ayoub started in the centre and played his best game of the year. During the second quarter, op-position again flooded back, but some of our quick ball movement was impressive. It was still difficult to score, how-ever, Andrew played well, giv-ing us an option up forward. James showed his normal poise and balance. Darcy continues to be strong in the ruck and around the ground. The third quarter opened up as our runners started to domi-nate. Joey and Stix went and got the hard ball and used it. Matty G helped out on ball and looked dangerous up for-ward. Jezza was good at getting the ball forward under
pressure. Captain Vinny loves the contest and just sees ball gets ball. The last quarter was all Bul-lants. Tony continues to win and share the ball up for-ward. Presty went into the ruck and competed hard. George and PK played well driving the ball forward with pace many times.
A good win boys.
Thanks for the support on the day.. This week we played Doncaster
at Schramms reserve.
The boys started slowly as some good pressure came on from opposition. Kynan led from the front with attacking running from defence. Both Peeky and Daniel Z played close and kept their opponents out of the game. Both Ari and Antoni played well, clearing the

The second quarter saw us link well on the outer wing giving us multiple forward plays which resulted in a handy lead at half time.
The third quarter highlight was our ability to lock the ball in our forward line for long peri-ods which provided us with more chances of scoring. We finished well and very tired.
We are back in the finals for

Today we played Balwyn away in the decider as to which team plays in this year’s finals series.
Balwyn has proved to be a diffi-cult opponent for us twice this year so we knew they were not an opponent to take lightly.
From the outset I could see that our attack on the ball was going to be strong. We won many a contested ball and backed it up with strong pressure when the opposition had possession. A bit more composure around goal could have seen us with a bigger

ing his 119th was putting in a stel-lar effort. 3-4 -22 to 1 behind meant that we had plenty of the ball and we dominated the for-ward entries. The 2nd qtr was a different kettle of fish as Brunswick began to dominate in the middle and were getting the critical centre clear-ances. Their best player, Mott, was a handful and he single handidly lifted his side by kicking three for the qtr. He played on the ball all day and is their engine. CIC were not happy campers as they wanted our mids to apply more pressure to their mids…. Or in Brunswicks case….. Mid. The move of the qtr came from our coaches box as The Big Fella was thrown into the ruck to “stop the bleeding”. And this it did as we finally got hands on the ball and kicked 2 very needed goals to keep our noses in front. The Big Fella and Scala were once again prominent. In the 3rd, Mott need-ed to be stopped or at least his influence had to be nullified and so Jake and Joey were given the tag team match up. With the aid of the scoring end we were once again lively but so too were Bruns-wick and they actually kicked the first for the qtr and the game was on a knifes edge. We needed all hands on deck and the likes of Scala and Mickic came to the fore with a goal apiece along with Zan-noni with a great snap from the pocket. Brunswick continued to attack and the likes of Davis and Agrotis were kept busy in assisting the backline to repel the Bruns-wick attacks. We had control of the game but it was not over. After our last qtr fade out last week, the Bullant parents were on
the edge of their seats and the guy with the Calicos was hoping that he was going to see plenty of action down his end. This time round there was to be no fade out as attack was the best form of defence. The highlight of the day was Big Aido coming back on the park , making a fantastic and cou-rageous comeback from a broken arm suffered some 12 weeks ago. Not only did Aido look lively but he clunked two strong marks from the forward pocket and we could not have asked for a brighter comeback. He has been sorely missed and could play a major part in our finals campaign! Our boys dominated the last qtr and we kicked away with positive football. Wise, Scala and Mickic were able to capitalise on the hard work of Rodwell , Presta, Dullard , Enzo & Damo. Anthony and Zannoni continued to work hard and present up forward and Joey and Sticca got the better of Mott and evened up the centre clearances in the second half. They are our engine and are much needed “in the heat of the kitch-en”. With the Doncaster coaching staff looking on in the first qtr of our game last week , todays match will be a test of will, skill, not being a dill and making sure we get the pill and thus giving us parents a bloody thrill!!! And Boys….. let’s go in for the kill ! Everyone has to be 100% spot on and ready to go. The finals are here! The Goal Umpire from the 70’s.
The boys from Brunswick once again ventured down the Eastern Freeway to take on the might of Bulleen! Our boys have not won since the wettest day of biblical proportions V Ashburton and therefore were keen to gain some confidence. Coming into the fi-nals, a win today was an essential ingredient in gaining some much needed belief. Last weeks report challenged all to get better. The talk around the locker room was that we needed to step up and attack / score more and start applying pressure on the opposition rather than them on us. This all started with Zannoni at CHF and Zac at CHB and Big Jack back in the ruck aided by Dargenio and The Big Fella. We came out lively in the first qtr and the team seemed to have an extra pep in their step. The Big Fella clunked a strong mark and goaled and kicked a snap as well whilst Zan-noni burst through CHF to kick his first for the match. We had drive from Sticca and Joey, and Zac was holding his position at CHB. Cosi and Blanchard were their solid usual selves and Shaun Tozer play-

wanted to win the quarters. The players responded in the second quarter winning it by 8 points and again in the third quarter losing the quarter slightly by 2 points. That was pleasing as we have shown that we can and will match it with a team like Ivanhoe come finals time.
We ended up losing the game by 8 goals but keep in mind we gave Ivanhoe a 7 goal head start. That brings me back to my first point that we as a team need to come ready to play football so when that siren goes at the beginning of the match we are ready to go.
Tim Dinatale had a fantastic game after being given a spe-cific role playing as a defensive forward. He was able to shut down his opponent and also being dangerous for us up for-ward. Josh Daicos had a great game before be rested late in the last quarter.
Congratulations too goes to Ben Wiggins who as a bottom age Colts player played in his 150th match for the club. Only a few players in each age group usually reach the 150 game milestone and as a bottom age colts player it is a great achievement to reach this mark with still a season to play.
Good luck to all Bulleen Tem-
plestowe teams beginning fi-
nals next week.
In the last round of the season we faced second place Ivanhoe. Both teams had al-ready qualified for finals so from our perspective we want-ed to play like we want to come finals but also have an injury free day.
It was evident in the rooms be-fore the game that we weren’t “switched on”. This is a depart-ment we must improve on come finals. We need to come mentally ready to play football. The top two teams clearly come ready to play each week and it showed against Ivanhoe as they fired through 7 straight goals to lead by 35 points at quarter time. For the first five minutes we had opportunities but couldn’t convert. Unfortu-nately quick transition of the ball by Ivanhoe from free play-ers really hurt us.
For the rest of the day we just

The match was preceded by a touch of sadness with several players destined to move up to U15s next season and of course this was to be Jade’s last match as head coach.
I’d like to pay homage to the amazing bunch of girls that form this team (I am sure Jade will individualise in the Year-book). Each and every one of them gives their all each and every week. They are fun but listen, nuts at times but try and that’s all you can ask.
I’d also like to say farewell and good luck to our retirees in Cara “Spaghet” Szigeti, Jasmine “Fizzle” Burmeister, Alice “Ally” Mayne and possibly Keeley “Keels” Owen.
I’ve received some amazing feedback over the last few weeks on the job Jade has done. She was a co-founder and player with the Youth Girls in 2011 and 2012. She took on the new U12 Girls team in 2013 and coached for three seasons. In 2014 Jade was recognised by the AFL as the Central Region Female Coach of the Year.
Finally please allow me to say an amazing thank you for the phenomenal support that the following staffers have given to Jade and the girls.
JAMES PARNELL team manager to the stars who brought a pro-fessional and fun approach each and every week.
TONY BONIELLO our runner
The U12 Bullunatics ventured over to a slightly muddy Ivanhoe Park last Sunday to take on the “Hoes”.
It was us in 8th position taking on Ivanhoe in 7th so neither team had a lot to lose or gain in the result except for getting on the park and having some fun.
Incredibly by half time neither team had scored and this was testament to both sides being incredibly tenacious in defence.
Half way through the third Ivanhoe scored a point much to the delight of their players and the crowd. They ended up kicking 1-2-8 to our 0-0-0.
This result didn’t really phase us too much as at the end of the day we’d kept them to just three scoring shots and we were soooo close on many an occasion.
The main goal was for our crew to get out there, experience unusual positions and just have a ball. Mission accomplished!

who’s knowledge of the game and passion for the team is un-surpassed.
MATT BOLT who relished the opportunity to be our bounda-ry umpire each and every week.
STEPHEN MAYNE who was an allrounder but seemed to really enjoy being goaly.
FAB BALDI my mate from the old days who loved being a wa-ter carrier and very passionate supporter.
To the parents. You’ve been nothing but supportive, proud, passionate and fun. You’ve supported the girls and Jade and would have to be one of the best crews about.
On behalf of the girls, THANK YOU Jade and staff.
OoRah!
Your humble Trainer.

During the game I saw some great tackles from Laura, both Maddi's, Georgia and the rest of the team. Antoinette's was arguably the best as she chased down a bigger opponent from behind and brought her to the ground winning a free kick in the process. Alannah was again a lively op-tion for us up forward, Ruby played another great game on the wing and the whole team gave their all for the entire match. Sophie Post was great again in defence as she took some im-portant marks, put pressure on the opposition and won the ball. It's been great to see her continual improvement for someone in their first year of football. As the opposition coach men-tioned after the game, the scoreboard wasn't a true re-flection of the tightness of the match with Kew probably being a little more polished around goal than we were on the day. We look forward to today's fi-nal against Glen Iris, a team we have had a win and a loss against o far this season. If we play with the spirit and intensi-ty we showed against Kew we will be a big chance today. Bulleen-Templestowe 0.2 - 2 defeated by Kew Rovers 5.6 - 36

The final round of the home and away season saw us play Kew Rovers at Stradbroke Park. With a finals spot assured it was a chance to give everyone a good run and to focus on some key skills. A real focus for the day was our attack on the footy and our tackling. The match started and Kew took the early ascendency as they won the ball and put our defenders under pressure from the first bounce. A great effort by the entire team to keep Kew at bay and we ended the first quarter behind on the score-board but with the game even-ly matched. Laura Mayne was doing a great job in the Ruck and with She-nae and Maddi Di Cosmo they were combining well to win the ball at the stoppages. Jaclyn put on a huge tackle to win a free kick for holding the ball and this set the tone for the rest of the team.

St Mary's were winning the ball out of the middle which put pressure on our backline who were good under that pressure and only allowed three goals through fir the day. We strug-gled up forward to kick goals early but with Lauren arriving at half time we had a moving target and were much more aggressive in our attack.
Claire played a good game in the ruck with some great com-petitive work around the ground. Lani and Laura threw themselves into the fray and won a lot of their own ball. Pam was a target up forward kicking two goals. Amy worked hard on the wing and the flank and was unfortunate to sustain a hand injury. The Mosele twins were prominent through-out the match and are set for a big finals series.
After two StMarys goals in a row we were right up against it but the girls dug deep and played a terrific last five minutes to come from be-hind.With the siren imminent we were behind, then drew level with a goal from Pam.
Finally with seconds on the clock Laura saved our bacon after fending off a couple of opponents on the forward flank then slotting through a great long point to see us get over the line just before the siren. A very relieved lot of Bul-lants staff, supporters and play-ers simultaneously inhaled a big breath.
Sarah ,Sophie,Pow and Rachel to return will be a great boost for the team in the finals. Good teams win ugly. Hopeful-ly this match brushes off the cobwebs and gets our poor game out of our system. Whilst it's been a great home and away effort the important job lies ahead of us. We now look out the windscreen and not in the rear vision mirror.
If the girls play to their ability they will do very well. All the best to everyone for a great finals series. This week we take on Seville in the second semi final and can go into the match knowing we have the armoury required to win the game- we just need to be fully switched on and come to play. Go Bullants
Well the Virgin Mary was shin-ing down on her girls as they came to their last match of the year with nothing to lose. Our girls were warned that St Mary's would throw every-thing at them .. and they did. It was a dour battle on a dull Saturday morning.
The girls looked like they were in first gear and felt it would just happen but it wasn't to be.Not switched on and second to the ball will need to be recti-fied in the finals.
Back and healthy again the te-nacious Georgina at half back led the way with no nonsense attack on the ball.Again,Danni &Lucie played well in the key posts whilst Edmona,Imi,Kate and Sheridan along with Mad-die worked hard to restrict StMarys to three goals.Carley who arrived at half time showed some strong attack on the ball backed up with good kicking.
