Strong Foundation - Luke 6:46-4946 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.[h] 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell.[i] And the ruin of that house was great.”

“Why do you call me Lord, but do not obey me?”

• You call me Lord, you call me master, and yet you will not do the things I tell you?

• People like being called Christian as long as it does not inconvenience them

• Issue: Obedience

Example of a man building a house

• House – Greek: Oikia or oikos, translated as House of God, Christian Life, Dwelling Place or Spiritual Body(Rumah Tuhan, Kehidupan Kekristenan, Kehidupan Pribadi)

• “Dug down deep” and laid the foundation on rock , then we will have a strong foundation

Page 10: Built to Last. Strong Foundation - Luke 6:46-49 46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and.

To dig down deep is to get beyond surface-level Christianity

• Not just church attendance, but service in and to the church

• Not just reading the bible, but discovering it’s truth

• Not lip service, but TRUE obedience to Chris as Lord

• Melayani di rumah Tuhan

• Bukan hanya membaca, tetapi mencari kebenarannya

• Bukan hanya di mulut, tetapi menggenapi atau mentaati kehendaknya

V:48 “Like a man... who laid the foundation on the rock.”

• The word rock used here is from the Greek word PETRA.

• Jesus in 1 Cor. 10:4 “and the rock was Christ.”• Peter in Matt.16:18 “you are Peter and on this

rock I will build my church(note: who will build the church? Christ)

• Rom. 9:23 “See I lay a stone in Zion, that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And the one who puts his trust in HIM will never be put to shame.

V:48 “Like a man... who laid the foundation on the rock.”

• JESUS = The ROCK and the solid foundation upon which we should build

• Yesus = Batu karang dan satu satunya dasar/fondasi dimana kita bangun kehidupan kita

V:48b “When a flood came, the torrent struck that house, but could not shake it

because it was well built.”

• With no foundation in a marriage, we have divorce.

• With no foundation in our relationship to Christ, we have backsliding

• With no foundation in our church, we lack faith and vision

• With no foundation under a house, we have a mess!

Page 14: Built to Last. Strong Foundation - Luke 6:46-49 46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and.

• In verse 49 he shows us what happens when we claim to know him, but do not have that deep and solid foundation.

“But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

• In contrast is the person who listens but doesn’t obey.

Two houses. May have looked the same on the outside! The difference is in the foundation.

Without a solid foundation, when hard times come, when things don’t go right, when we face struggles at home, on the job, at school...we will not have the strength to endure!

Page 15: Built to Last. Strong Foundation - Luke 6:46-49 46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and.

• Isaiah 33:6He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure!

1 Corinthians 3:11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Karena tidak ada seorangpun yang dapat meletakkan dasar lain dari pada dasar yang telah diletakkan, yaitu Yesus Kristus.

Built to last• We need to reevaluate our beliefs and level of

obedience to God’s commands so that we are not deceived by the devil. He wants us to think that everything is fine.

Each of us know in our heart of hearts if everything is really fine.

• Without a solid foundation, when hard times come, when things don’t go right, when we face struggles at home, on the job, in marriage, at school...we will not have the strength to endure!

Built to last• Jesus = Our foundation• Being a good listener is not enough, be a

DOER!Jangan hanya menjadi pendengar, tetapi PELAKU firman Tuhan

• Obedience - Ketaatan• “By the grace God has given me, I laid a

foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:10-11).
