When there is a problem – many think it is the other person's fault.

Boy – If we were married, I'd poison your tea.

Girl – If I were your wife, I'd drink it.

Many think they married the wrong person

1 PETER 3:7-9

7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. 8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

“Dwell with” Literally – dwell down Men tend to become passive in the home I earn – she spends Checks and balances I bring home the bacon, she cooks it.

“Dwell with” Manage

1 Timothy 3:4-5 4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?)

He must manage the household Manage = preside, lead, direct, guide

2] KNOW YOUR WIFE

“According to knowledge” Likes / dislikes, cares, dreams, secrets, disappointments Know – favorite color, candy, dress, flower Listen – communicate Learn – Sometimes she has a good idea

Genesis 21:12 But God said to Abraham, "Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed shall be called.

2] KNOW YOUR WIFE

“According to knowledge” Malachi 2:14 Yet you say, "For what reason?"

Because the Lord has been witness Between you and the wife of your youth, With whom you have dealt treacherously; Yet she is your companion And your wife by covenant.

Companion (Hebrew) = tame a wild animal Spend time with Get to know Develop trust

3] HONOR YOUR WIFE

giving honor to the wife,as to the weaker vessel

Giving = assign her a place of honor Above children, parents, friends Above interests, hobby, job, sports

Honor = treat with respect Does she know it? Don't assume anything.
