• Started more than 15 years ago
• Contracted intermediaries in aviation, construction, healthcare, marine industries and manufacturing, and now includes technology
• Performance-based contracts, but problematic
• Evolved into staff assignments
WIOA Purpose
• To support alignment of workforce investment, education and economic development systems
• To improve quality and labor market relevance of workforce, education and economic development
• To promote improvement of the structure and delivery of services to better address skill needs of job seekers, workers and employers
• Increase the prosperity of workers and employers; promote economic growth of regions, states and US global competitiveness
Examples of Sector Strategies
• CSBD has an assigned Marine Industry Intermediary who participates with MIASF and Broward College at monthly MIASF Workforce and Education Committee Meetings
• CSBD & MIASF are actively involved in Broward College’s Marine Advisory Committee Meetings
• CSBD developed Industry Sector pages on its website to coordinate some of the efforts of our industry and educational partners
