The Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) has been

implementing sustainable tourism initiatives ever since the

creation of the Law No. 254 of November 30, 2006, known as

“Public Policy Act for the Sustainable Development of Tourism

in Puerto Rico”.

minimizes greenwashing and the negative effects that such

practice may have in the impression that our tourists and

future visitors will have of Puerto Rico as a destination.

Design Guidelines for Ecotouristic and Sustainable Tourism Facilities Focuses in new projects of

kitchen and dining,

public restrooms,

guestrooms,

service and maintenance,

laundry room,

facility roof surface,

exterior reflectivity,

rainwater harvesting,

renewable energy sources,

natural emergency preparedness.

Our Green Certification Program seeks to ensure all

touristic facilities endorsed by the Puerto Rico

Tourism Company meets sustainability principles and
