Grid Systems – Phase One

Technical Updates



• Create grid using the Column Grid tool

• search help for: ‘Create a Grid System’



• Create grid models and reference into your project’s master models



• Tick Show Grid System to display the grid in your DVs.

• Grids are included by Display Sheet Annotations in Models



To see the grid, the Elevation callout must be parallel to the grid



Floor Levels can be displayed in elevation by setting the floor’s Annotation property to True

Dataset Migration From SS3/4 to SS5

Technical Updates

• Updating/Migrating and SS3 Datasets to SS4

1. Create a new network location for your workspace and dataset in parallel to the existing ss3 dataset

2. Copy existing workspace folders and contents to the new SS4 folder

3. Copy the delivered SS4 Building Dataset to the SS4 folder

4. Copy your Company Dataset (if you have one) folders from SS3 to SS4

5. Identify any other dataset files that you created in SS3, then copy to the SS4 dataset

6. Update any modified Dynamic View DrawingSeeds

7. Modify existing Project Configuration Files for projects that are being migrated to SS4

8. Upgrade or recreate the BB_Floormaster files for any projects that are being migrated to SS4

9. Modify your PCF template then copy it to an appropriate location

10. Run DG and Dataset update utilities as described in ABD help

11. Update project datasets as above where relevant

Speeds up platform tools that access EC data – e.g. Element Information

BB_DG_ECSCHEMA_CACHE

Store the cache file in the project dataset's data folder - to cache project specific data.

A local copy of the cache is created in the background. - there is no need to direct this variable to a local folder.

Changes to the dataset are picked up automatically - addition of custom parts for instance,.


BB_DG_ANNOTATION_HONORS_ACS

• Set this = 1 in the PCF

• Refresh Auto Annotation

• The annotation rotates to the active floor ACS

• Save Settings to preserve the rotation

• It will not control: – unmanaged annotations – a managed annotation that has

been manually rotated.
