To manage the 300 mile Mississippi River watershed above the Ohio River through the application of engineering, scientific, and other resources while preserving, restoring and enhancing the environment; maintain core competencies needed to respond to emergencies and technical requirements.

Navigation Vision: Vision: A watershed which supports navigational needs of economic development, while protecting and enhancing the environment.

Goals:Goals:• Provide reliable, safe, and efficient transit of

navigation interests through the slack water pools and open rivers of the Mississippi, Kaskaskia, and Illinois rivers.

• Provide an environmentally compliant stabilized 9-foot navigation channel.

• Promote a safe, efficient, coordinated, world class, sophisticated navigation system.

Vision: Vision: Preserve and restore environmental resources in a way which provides diverse and sustainable fish and wildlife habitat, improves the quality of life within the region, and allows for compatible recreation and economic development.

Habitat Needs Assessment (HNA) for major river ecosystems.

• Develop an ecosystem restoration program which, in conjunction with the efforts of others, meets the needs of the HNA.
