Continuous gas detection shall be provided to monitor areas where carbon dioxide can accumulate. 2. The threshold for activation of an alarm shall not exceed 5,000 parts per million 3. Activation of the emergency alarm system shall initiate a local alarm within the room or area in which the system is installed. • The new requirements in the 2015 IFC came about after several fatal carbon dioxide poisonings occurred in the United States in restaurants where CO 2 leaked from large storage containers and displaced oxygen in the area. CO 2 is an odorless and colorless gas heavier than air and will fill a room from bottom to top displacing the oxygen, creating a potential life safety hazard to building occupants and emergency responders. • Although the 2015 IFC contains new language regarding CO 2 systems please check with your local government units of the status of this code in your area. • For more information on the code please refer to the following link: IFC 2015 Code Key Features Applications Accessories • 0-5000 PPM Range • Dual Alarm Relay (Low & High Levels) • Digital Display / Onboard Buzzer • Low Voltage (CD-6H / CD-6MC) 12-24AC/DC or Line Voltage (CD-12H / CD-12MC) 120VAC • Can Be Used Standalone or Connected to Burglar/Fire Panel, or Macurco Controller • Convenience Stores • Fast Food Restaurants • Restaurants / Bars • Grocery Stores • Breweries / Distilleries / Wineries • Arenas / Stadiums • Theaters • Horn and Strobe (24VDC only) • PS-24 (Plug in 24VDC Power) • DVP-120 Control Panel • CO 2 Test Gas CD-6H / CD-6MC Carbon Dioxide (CO 2 ) Detector, Controller & Transducer © Aerionics 2019.
