WHY DO WE HAVE GREEN MARK SYSTEM?

•The initiative to drive construction industry towards more environment-friendlybuildings.

• To promote sustainability in the built environment and raise environmentalawareness when developers and design team start project conceptualization anddesign, as well as during construction.

WHAT IS THE BENEFITS OF GREEN MARK?

• Green Mark provides a meaningful differentiation of buildings in the real estate market.

• It is a benchmarking scheme which incorporates internationally recognized best practices in

environmental design and performance. This can have positive effect on corporate image, leasingand resale value of buildings.

• Benefits include:1. Facilitate reduction in water and energy bills,2. Reduce potential environmental impact,

3. Improve indoor environmental quality for a healthy and productive workplace,4. Provide clear direction for continual improvement.

PASSIVE DESIGN – SUN SHADING

•Building’s aesthetic value while

allowing enough daylight to the

rooms.

•Low sun angles which areharder to shade.

•Light colours are better at

reflecting solar radiation.

PASSIVE DESIGN – DAY LIGHTING

•Not introduce too much solar heat gain into the space.

•Design a system that minimizescontrast ratios and integrate

natural and electric lighting.

•Use daylight sensors

PASSIVE DESIGN – NATURAL VENTILATION

•Open space and non – air conditioned area.

•Airflow and energy simulations,

using the wind andmeteorological data.

•Effects of surroundingobstructions such as blockspacing and arrangement.

GREEN MARK ASSESSMENT CRITERIA & APPLICATION

•Green building rating system – evaluate a building for its impact and performance.•Endorsed and supported by the National Environment Agency.

•To promote sustainable design, construction and operations practices in buildings.

•To promote energy savings, water savings, healthier indoor environments, and adaption of more extensive

greenery for developers and design teams.

GREEN MARK ASSESSMENT CRITERIA & APPLICATION

1. Assessment process:•Pre – assessment briefing to the project team for understanding of requirements and certification levelsought.

•Actual assessment verify relevant reports and documentary evidences.

•Re-assess every 3 years to maintain the Green Mark status. New and existing buildings will be re-assessedunder existing building criteria.

2. The assessment identifies the specific energy efficient and environment-friendly features and practicesincorporated in the projects

3. Points are awarded for incorporating environment-friendly features. The total number of points indicateenvironmental friendliness of the building design and operation.

4. Rating: Green Mark Platinum, GoldPlus, Gold or Certified
