BUILD CAPABILITY IN YOUR WORKPLACE TRAIN AN EMPLOYEE TO BE AN MHFA INSTRUCTOR Training a staff member to be an Accredited MHFA Instructor to deliver courses internally is a great way to build a skilled mental health first aid workplace. COST EFFECTIVE Get a return on your investment quickly - training an Instructor usually costs the same as appointing an external Instructor to deliver two to three courses. KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR WORKPLACE A staff member will have an intimate understanding of the work your people do, the culture and language. This will enable them to tailor relevant and engaging scenarios for staff. SUSTAINABILITY Investing in an internal Instructor is an efficient way to embed MHFA training in your organisation, and will enable regular training to be offered to existing and new staff. How to train an MHFA Instructor from your workplace 1. Select someone who meets the eligibility requirements 2. Select a relevant Instructor Training course online 3. The staff member completes the online application form 4. During the course, the staff member will be provided with everything they need to go back to the workplace and start delivering training. Enbedding MHFA in the workplace Training an Instructor is a first step to embedding MHFA. Policies, leadership support and monitoring over time also help.
