We recommend the Hayden theme

as it’s pre-built with all the pages

you’ll need to just jump in and start

editing.

Let’s get started.

Enter Your Site Info Already done in the PLAN stage

Select what your site is about from the dropdown menus.

Identify Your Site Goals Again, should’ve already been identified

Name Your Site

Grab a Domain

Using the left hand sidebar navigation click on Settings. Under Website, click Domains and follow the steps. You’ll need to upgrade your account at this point. It takes a couple minutes to get through, but extremely easy to get set up. If you already have a domain you purchased somewhere else – simply connect that account (from their list of partner sites) and Squarespace seamlessly integrates the transfer for you!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You’ve successfully created your

new cover page - a temporary

website in about 15 minutes!

Continue to build out and edit your

site.

Show Only Home, About, Contact and Blog Pages

Drag and drop the pages in the left side navigation and rename accordingly. We’ll dive into the content editor in our next step.

Using the Inline Editor and Live Preview

Finally, let’s start editing the actual content on the pages of your new site. Click on the Pages tab in the left hand sidebar navigation.

Select the Home page to start editing. Once you’re on the page, hover over the text and you’ll see some options appear. Click the Edit option, then click on the text you want to edit.

*Note editing the header image and text can be done simply by clicking the “Gear” icon to the right of “Home.”

Adding Content Blocks

To add content blocks, within the active “Edit” mode, simply hover over empty space and you’ll see a horizontal drop icon with a black bar extending. Click that icon to expose a list of options.

Editing Your Content Blocks

Select the content block you’d like to add (using the existing content as a template for how to perform layout).

The site is built on a grid, so when you click and drag a content block to move it somewhere else, be sure to align and space it accordingly.

This may take a few attempts to crack, but you should get the hang of it pretty quickly.

THIS IS THE FOUNDATION FOR BUILDING AND EDITING YOUR PAGES.

Edit Your Basic Pages with Your Own Content

Delete content from the template you don’t need and add your copy (that you already wrote) for the Home, About and Contact Pages. That’s it.

YOU’VE JUST BUILT A WEBSITE, WITH NO CODING SKILLS, IN ABOUT 30 MINUTES!

But wait, there’s more!

BONUS STUFF – EDIT YOUR

BLOG

Editing your Blog page works exactly as editing the other pages, but the posts work a little different.

Add a New Post

To add a new blog post click the Blog page (from the left hand sidebar navigation) to enter the Blog section.

Editing Your Content

Once inside, click the + and begin editing like you would the content in a page (new content block options to choose from).

Adding Finishing Touches

Check out the menu at the top of the pop up window (Content, Options, Location and Social) before hitting Save and Publish.

Publish

Once finished, pat yourself on the back because you just published your first blog post. It’s that easy!
