Title: APPR-Lead Evaluator 2019-2020 (29293)

Course Description: This full day training session will fulfill the six hours of in-person training required for 2019-2020 Lead Evaluator re-certification. This training module will provide instruction and support to lead evaluators of teachers on what is required per the Buffalo Public School 3012d APPR process and MOU enacted in January 2017. This session includes instruction to assist lead evaluators of teachers to demonstrate proficiency in completing a teacher practice observation using the negotiated NYSUT Rubric indicators, evidence collection, scripting and entry using the districts APPR management platform. This required training applies to building and central office administrators.

Prerequisites: Participants must be a sitting Lead Evaluator (Building or Central Office.) Please bring your laptop and Lead Evaluator/observation notes and materials.

Title: APPR-Initial Lead Evaluator Certification 2019-2020 (29899)

Course Description: This course was designed to train new administrators on using the NYSUT Rubric to evaluate teachers. Administrators will receive training on how to provide meaningful feedback to teachers in order to strengthen their instruction. Administrators will also be trained on how to conduct pre and post conferences.

Course Description: This professional learning opportunity is for teachers who have not administered the

Course Description: This session is designed to provide teachers of science with critical program

information needed to ensure success on Day 1 in their classroom. It includes comprehensive print resources

and the new digital platform on Pearson Realize. Participants will discover how the curriculum package

enhances teaching and learning. This training will allow participants to thoroughly and efficiently assesses

students’ understanding, while offering differentiated instructional opportunities. Participants will navigate both

print and digital resources of three different instructional pathways. Participants will be able to customize

instruction to meet their individualized instructional needs of their students. This session culminates with a

lesson-planning activity that requires participants to gather their available resources to plan a lesson and

address classroom challenges. Program Activation alone does not ensure implementation fidelity, but it will

provide teachers with the tools needed to get started.

Title: CAI-SD-Culturally Responsive Teaching - The Culturally Responsive

Classroom (25557)

Course Description: This professional development learning opportunity will introduce participants to

creating culturally relevant lessons so that children see themselves in the curriculum through an affirmation of

their history and culture resulting in increased student achievement, the closing of the achievement gap and the

fostering of a commitment to social justice. Participants will view classroom videos, reflect on their experiences

and discuss the necessary components of a culturally relevant lesson. Educators will walk away with research

based strategies to begin teaching culturally relevant lessons at their sites, a curriculum supplement, a literature

list, and a bibliography. This course will use the terms culturally relevant and culturally responsive

interchangeably when referencing pedagogy, curriculum or classroom environment. Cultural proficiency will be

used to discuss the educator's journey to honor each student, to combat racism, and to commit to social justice.

Course Description: Participants will learn the need for Restorative Practices in schools (to address

disproportionality, provide an alternative to the failed zero tolerance policy, and develop social emotional

competencies). Participants will participate in a ceremony circle to learn how to implement one to fidelity.

Participants will learn how to use Restorative Practices with staff, how and when to use Restorative

Conversations, and how to hold problem solving circles. Participants will receive an overview of the practices at

the advanced Tiers, including Restorative Conferences, with some opportunity to practice.
