HOUSING

There are different options for housing in Buenos

Aires. The choice is usually based on the duration of

the stay and different levels of comfort and privacy.

1) Apartment Rental(Recommended for students)

It allows students to explore Buenos Aires’s

typical lifestyle, and is the most comfortable and

least expensive option for those who want to stay

in Argentina for an extended period of time. For

your safety and efficiency, we recommend renting

through a real estate agency. Some prefer to deal

directly with the owners because it is cheaper.

•Take some time to look for housing: the more time you take the better will be the property you decide on.

• Real estate agencies tend to charge a fee of approximately a month’s rent (it is a one time thing at the beginning of the lease)

• We recommend always setting the rent on Argentine Pesos.

• Some aspects to take into account at the time of choosing:

Renta| total price (including utilities and expenses) | Closeness to transportation | Furnishing | Size and conditions | Appliances | Do they take pets?

• Ask if the apartment will include air conditioner, Internet, phone line, etc.

• If possible, try to go to the appointments with a person living in Buenos Aires or someone who knows the city’s real estate market.

• It is customary that the owner or real estate agent asks for a deposit (it is usually a month’s rent) to cover for possible damages to the property or its contents. When ending the lease, and if the property is in good conditions, the student must receive a complete refund.

• Rent is usually paid in advance.

sharing a household with an argentine family; and

while it allows them to practice the language, it is

not the option that provides the most privacy and

independence.
