What’s in a Rating?
Class: Class refers to the types of material that can create an explosive atmosphere. Class I indicates a situation where flamma-ble gases vapors or liquids could be pre-sent. Class II suggests combustible dusts may be present. Class III environment has the possibility of ignitable fibers.
The flashlights that make up Bright Star’s WorkSAFE LED Series are the lowest priced Class 1, Division 1 rated lights in the world. Which means you can carry the saf-est hazardous-environment ready flashlights available.
On the surface, it’s not easy to tell the difference between a WorkSAFE flashlight and a non-safety-rated light. In fact, you might not even no-tice a difference at all - until the moment it falls from your grip in a hazardous location. That’s when a standard light can ignite combustible ma-terial causing a fire or ex-plosion. WorkSAFE on the other hand, are specifically designed to meet UL protec-tion methods for intrinsical-ly safe environments.
If you may be working in a hazardous location, choose a flashlight designed to meet UL protection methods for use
under the type of conditions you could encounter there.
DIVISION: Division refers to the likelihood that an explosive atmosphere is present. In a Division 1 environment, an explosive at-mosphere is likely to exist under normal op-erating conditions. In a Division 2 environ-ment, an explosive atmosphere is not likely to exist under normal operating conditions.
Group: Group refers to the ignition-relat-ed properties of the explosive atmosphere. Seven Groups, ranging from A to G, encom-pass atmospheres containing acetylene to flour, starch or grain dusts.
