Increase in GP training in mental health
GPs to listen and understand
A better understanding of the different types of mental illness by GPs.
What is happening on the inside does not always show on the outside.
Listen to what is really the issue
Give me time
Believe me
How and what type of information to give topatients about their illness
I don’t understand the information about medication. Do I have a choice?
I want to be listened to by a person who understands not just by an automated machine.
There is no word for mental ill health in my language
I need to access help and support at home whilst my wife is ill
Dementia is scary. Can I stay at home with my wife?
I need support and understanding for me and my daughter.
Can I talk to someone about my mum?
Access to services quickly when me or my family need it
I need to be registered........
A closer working with the Communitymental health teams. This is seen as something that is important as it does not really happen at the moment
A better review system when someone’sreceiving medication.
Having someone receiving the same medication year on year should not be happening in most cases.
I think it is important that GPs understand how important staying employed is.
I was scared and no one at college understood me.My GP did not judge me.
GPs to know that they areimportant .We are worried about the cuts.
Not to be afraid of advocating theuse of alternative provider services to their patients.
GPs to realise that PsychologicalTherapies are not for everyone and neither are tablets.
People are all different and whatsuits one does not necessarily suitanother so there needs to bealternative treatments available.
